  1. Xbox One Volume Control (After Cortana Update)

The agent that I spoke with about the issue said I should post this here.

After the latest Xbox Update, for some reason my console has "forgotten" how to control the volume for my television through both my Kinect and my Xbox Media Remote. The other TV commands work just nothing relating to volume. Is there a way to get the folks
that program this to take a look into the matter? My television is an LG 55LS4500.

I've programmed the Xbox to a TV at a family member's house and at a friend's to test that both the media remote and kinect are still able to send the signals for the volume commands. The volume controls worked on their TVs with no issue. It's just seemed
to have forgotten how to do it with my TV model.

    :)

    Cortana & one guide

I haven't used Cortana for a few months, maybe closer to a year. I turned it off as it kept picking up random conversations and screwing up my games.

After the recent update last week I figured I'd give it a shot again. Now I've found that it works better except it will not control one guide.

I tell Cortana turn on the Xbox, then to watch TV, then to watch Fox for example. It works too turn on the TV and start the one guide/tv app, but won't change channels. It will control there tv to turn the volume up or down.

What am I missing or is this another defect with Cortana?

Is your Kinect 2.0 still plugged in?

Well looks like they updated it last night. Although it doesnt say the go to sleep command, what people seem to be experiencing is what I was experiencing wiht bringing it into web search.

    Hopefully this fixed it.

    Cortana hearing other players

Sounds like Cortana is hearing voice commands through the headset which a new feature that was added with the update. Try turning down the volume a little on the headset so Cortana won't respond to what's coming out of the headset.

    HEADSET ISSUES

    Hey there ReaperzBlade,

We've not seen any traffic on this particular issue, but I'm happy to try some steps with you to see if we can narrow this down. First off, let's make sure the controller is fully up to date with these steps.

    Update your Xbox One controller
    .

If that doesn't work, go ahead and try to disable Cortana and see if that helps out.Go to: Settings > System > Cortana Settings. From this screen you’ll have the option to Disable Cortana.

If that doesn't work, can you try to use the headset with a different controller and see if that helps out?

Let us know how it goes!

Voice Commands will not control TV or Audio Receiver anymore

    Hey there blim,

To clarify, Is the issue that you're having that when you say a command such as "Hey Cortana, Volume Up" and the volume is no longer turning up? Or something else such as the console is seeing the command, but nothing is happening.

Are you using Cortana on the console or are you only using the standard "Xbox" commands right now.

    Let us know!

    Cortana is a bust

Thanks for your feedback. Most of my commands are turn on, turn off, adjust volume. I may try again on the Turn On - after a dozen attempts, I couldn't get it to respond at all (even walking right up to the Kinect!). No volume or channel adjustments
at all with TV on, while the Xbox commands respond just fine.

If you cant have a same or better experience with Cortana on for basic TV functions, then it has to stay off. Again, a big disappointment, because "Hey Cortana" was supposed to be more responsive, not less, than "Xbox"

    Cortana does not work!

Scooter3303 - I am having the exact same difficulty. Cortana responds to "Hey Cortana" but doesn't hear anything after that. Typing information is useless as she "thinks" endlessly. The new update has been installed. Cortana was turned "on" and XBOX restarted.
Internet is connected. My profile is signed in. XBOX has been through multiple full power cycles with Kinect cord plugged and unplugged. Kinect was successfully recalibrated multiple times. Cortana still doesn't work via the Kinect or my official XBOX One
headset. Hoping for an update for this bug!
