I believe ever since the latest update I'm encountering the same thing. I have an original xbox one (not S) and when I run network stats I show 60MB down 7MB up 58ms latency 0% packet loss. When I try to download something I get between 800kbps and 5Mbps
for a download speed. Sometimes it even goes to 0 and sits there. I was also getting kicked out of rocket league while playing. I have a PS4, xbox 360 and PS3 all hooked up to the same port on my router with a switch and none of them have any issues at
all. I get around 50Mbps down on those and always did on the xbox one prior to noticing a few days ago. I've tried direct cable to my modem as well as router and switched to wireless and I still get the slow speeds. Every once in a while I'm able to get
it to work correctly getting around 50Mbps down by doing various resets on the equipment but if I reboot the xbox one it goes right back down to the super slow. I ordered a new xbox one thinking it's the console, but the new one does the same thing. I've
read one other person on the forums that's having the same issue as me, but it doesn't appear to be widespread. The console is practically useless at this point.

After countless calls and chats with microsoft it appears they finally resolved their server side issue as my speeds are back to normal.

We've got a guide that can help in this case. Please take a look and try all of the troubleshooting steps. Including connecting directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable bypassing the router and switch to get a direct speed test off of the modem to see
if it helps.

Thanks mister mascot but this issue is far beyond what that article covers. If you read my message, you'd see that I'm speed testing at 60mb down on Xbox's network stats. Yet games download at about 1mb/s. It's not just slow it's practically dialup speed.
I've tried making changes the article states but it's the same. It's also the same no matter if it's wired, wireless, hooked up through the router or directly to the modem. I've also replaced my modem and bought a new Xbox. Nothing makes a difference. The
new one took over a hour to download the update on initial boot up. My PS4 which is hooked up to the exact same equipment downloaded 12gb in 20 min. Also this just started happening after one of the updates. No changes were made on my end. There are others
with the same issue as well. This needs to be resolved as my console is pretty much useless.

Just letting you know that I am having the same problem on my xbox one and 360 together.

Mine have done it for a while as well as having same advertising and notices etc on my live homescreen. They would change everyday notifying me of new games or DLC etc but now its froze.

If its not resolved by microsoft or Game, who are useless, I'm gona posts ads and flyers everywhere telling people not to by an xbox. U should too and any people you know. That'll eventually get Bill Gates attention when his sales decline.

My thought is Sony (Japanese) make some good stuff and lots of it. Microsoft (American) don't.

 

Thanks sutty wutty. We need to get them to fix this especially since it just started happening for no rhyme or reason. My 360 seems to be fine so it's just strange how it's happening for some and not others. It's ridiculous. Microsoft just wants to blame
it on my equipment which it's not. They haven't tried to help other than the standard BS like that article that was posted. Maybe they're too busy working on the new console they want you to buy next year.

We'd like to try and isolate this issue some more and check for known issues with the network hardware, just to rule that out. Thanks for clarifying on the testing part working good, but the store download not reflecting the speeds.

We'd recommend testing your console on another network to see if the same issue persists and also to see if you're seeing the same Download and Upload speeds when you check the Detailed network stats on the console. To narrow it down some more though on
the connection you're using right now.

Please run a Detailed Network Statistics test again on the Xbox One console and provide the following information.

  • Upload Speed:
  • Latency:
  • Packet Loss %
  • Wireless Strength (if applicable)
• Modem Manufacturer and Model:
• Router Manufacturer and Model (if being used) :

Now keep in mind this just started. It has been fine for years. So if there is a compatibility issue it was introduced within the last month. I only changed the modem this weekend because of this issue. I have no other issues with any other equipment on
the network and it does the same directly connected to the modem as well as a wireless connection. Thanks

My problems are the same as azstang95. Just started after the update and no other devices on the networks are affected. Phones , PC's and PS4 have zero issues and download at 100Mbps +

Thanks so much for the information. So we've got a couple things to try here, if you've already done these I apologise, but I want to make sure we cover all of the bases.

I did some research and it looks like your Modem that you're currently using as well as the Router are good to go, we're not seeing any known issues with either device at this time.

However we'd like to try and test a few things with the router.

First, can you please try to swap the Ethernet cable with another one and run the Network test again to see if the speeds are consistent? If they are, can you test a download of a game to see where abouts the speeds are?

Next, if you're not seeing an improvement with another Ethernet cable, is it possible for you to connect the console to another internet connection? For example, if you have a cell phone that allows you to broadcast WiFi. Would it be possible to try and
connect the console to that device to see if the can download speed issue persists?

After that, we'd want to have you try to enable DMZ on the Linksys router as a test. This will cause some connection issues with the Xbox 360, but we'd just like to see if setting that up has any effect with the speeds. You can find some steps to do this
HERE.

All these steps have been tried aside from the console on another network which I haven't had a chance to try yet. I do not believe it's the console as a brand new did the exact same thing. I've tested it directly to the old modem and the new modem and have
also tested it with wireless. So that eliminates the router and cabling. It may work fine on another network and even if it does it doesn't explain why it has worked for years on my network and then just stop working correctly after a recent update. I have
zero problems with any other device currently. Nor does it explain why it speed tests correctly but downloads slow. So there's nothing wrong with the equipment on my end. With other people having the same exact problem at the same timeframe shows you there
is most likely something in one of the updates affecting it. I would look at the August 5th update as I believe that to be the cause of this. It's inexcusable that we have no option to roll back an update for at the very least testing purposes since it has
now rendered mine and many other consoles essentially useless. Having SPR start another thread doesn't help as the community won't be able to help this. Unless a bunch of people's routers and modems and ISPs just magically had issues that only affect the
Xbox one and nothing else at the same time. This needs to go higher up to the people who are writing the drivers for the network card. If this was a Windows server or desktop I would have had this resolved already.

The reason we'd want to try another network is so we can confirm the issue is happening across multiple networks and eliminate the network you're currently using as a cause to this. Especially if enabling DMZ on the Router had no effect. Can you please try
that and let us know?

You also mentioned a recent update, when was this update? If you check, was
this the update you received on the console? If not, can you double check to make sure that your console is up to date?

To clarify as well, the reason we like each user to start their own thread is because the troubleshooting can get complex in a situation like this and this helps us keep track of everything on our end with each user.

 

Did you even read my post? It does it directly to the modem and with 2 different modems. That eliminates any firewalls. I also said it was the August 5th update. Yes my console is updated to the latest. I will test another network later tonight and post
the results.

 

Tethered the xbox to my cell phone so it was on a totally separate network. Download speed tested at 7mb down. When downloading I was getting between 30kbps and 1mb/s and it would continually go up and down and stop just like it does when wired on my network.
So I'm seeing the same symptoms regardless of network.
