Xbox One V2 Support Vertical Orientation? I HOPE SO!

    Hey all,

I don't have a current issue per se since Microsoft said vertical orientation is not supported and therefore my previous issue would be considered resolved. However, as we have seen Microsoft come out with gobs of different versions of the Xbox 360 over
the years, I expect similar with the Xbox One.

Therefore I would like to give my two cents on the next version. Many times the newer version is purchased by a new adopter or someone that needs to replace their current console due to malfunction/damage. I would like to believe that since ~20% of Xbox
360 owners used their console in the vertical orientation, adding this feature back to the next version of the Xbox One just seems logical.

Think about it. If Microsoft added this feature back along with the normal updates (slimmer size, elimination of power brick, etc.) they could more likely than not expect stronger sales of the 2nd version of the Xbox One than they would of the second version
of the Xbox 360 because not only are you getting your normal sales, but you can also capture the sales of the 20% vertical orientation players by either getting them to finally switch from 360 to the One (or from PS4 back to Xbox for that matter) as well as
additional sales from people like me, who value the vertical orientation so much, that I would purchase the version 2 in order to get the feature back and have two consoles or trade it in/ sell my current console used.

So there you have it, my two cents and why it makes financial and logical sense. If you have thoughts to add, be my guest and fire away.

    :)

have you tried putting the console vertical/horizontal? If no hope still, try a CD/DVD Lens Cleaner (use 3 times initially for best results)... if no hope after that, call Xbox support... hope this helps

  3. Kinect for Windows v2 sensor and Xbox One S

    Hey there Nixe Ahn,

Using that adapter you, should be able to hook the Kinect Sensor up to an Xbox One S console. The

    FAQ guide
for the Kinect for Windows v2 would suggest that when using the adapter the sensor should work on an Xbox One console, or Xbox One S console using the adapter since functionally it can be used in the reverse scenario.

    From the FAQ

If you already own a Kinect for Windows v2 sensor, please be assured that our support for the v2 sensor remains unchanged and you can continue to use it for both commercial and non-commercial uses. If you don’t have a Kinect for Windows v2 sensor, we encourage
you to purchase the Kinect for Xbox One sensor and Kinect Adapter for Windows—which together, are functionally identical to the v2 sensor for developing and running Kinect for Windows v2 applications. We no longer manufacture Kinect for Windows v2 sensors
and have sold out of existing stock."

Microsoft has consolidated the Kinect for Windows developer experience around the Kinect for Xbox One sensor and is no longer producing the Kinect for Windows v2 sensor. We encourage developers who do not already have the v2 sensor to use the functionally
identical Kinect for Xbox One sensor and Kinect Adapter for Windows to create interactive v2 solutions and applications. The adapter enables you to connect a Kinect for Xbox One sensor to Windows 8.0, 8.1, and 10 PCs and tablets in the same way as you would
a Kinect for Windows v2 sensor. Since the Kinect for Xbox One and Kinect for Windows v2 sensors are functionally identical, the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 works exactly the same with either."

So by this information you should be able to use it without any issues, since it works in the reverse scenario.

I hope that helps to clarify things for you. Xbox One V2 Support Vertical Orientation? I HOPE SO! :)

Xbox One: Stand it Vertically "At Your Own Risk"

Written Friday, September 20, 2013 By Richard Walker

Microsoft has reiterated that Xbox One cannot be stood vertically on its side, and attempting to do so will damage the console due to its slot loading disc drive. It's not due to a cooling problem either, but down to the design of the console.

"We don't support vertical orientation; do it at your own risk." Xbox Senior Product Manager Albert Penello stated at TGS. "It wouldn't be a cooling problem, we just didn't design the drive for vertical. Because it's a slot loading drive, we just didn't
    design it for both".

For some reason, both PS3 and PS4 use slot loading drives, but can be stood vertically or horizontally, although according to Penello, more people prefer the latter orientation. "We found, interestingly enough, that 80 percent of people, believe it or not,
    have their Xbox [360] horizontally."

Consult the image below to see how you should place your Xbox One when you purchase it on November 22nd. Don't say we never do our bit to help.

    I don't know what's wrong!!!!!

Perhaps orient your Xbox differently? If you had it sitting vertically, try horizontally -- or vice versa.

I get disc read errors based on the orientation of my Xbox 360 on rare occasions. Maybe that could be happening to you.

    Xbox one S fan throttle

    Hey there!

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing fan issues. Let's have you check out the

    console ventilation
support article if you haven't already. As it says in the article, if you are placing the Xbox One S console in a vertical orientation, using the console stand is required to ensure the bottom vent is not blocked. For more information,
go to Using the vertical stand for the Xbox One S console.

Let us know if you're still hearing issues with your Xbox One S fan!
