    Xbox One USB Power Questions

I am curious about how the power over USB on my Xbox function. Specifically, I'd like to have USB dongles turned on and off when the Xbox is turned on and off -- is this possible? Also, do the different Xbox power-off-modes effect the USB power when the
console is off via Engery-Saving mode versus Instant-On mode?

Currently, when turn off the console in Instant-On mode, all three ports remain powering the USB.

    Thanks.

    :)

Q's about Xbox controller / batteries and recharging

Unsure about your first question, as to your second question yes you can have it plugged into the X1 or any other USB power source and it'll work.

No to the first question. Only works with play n charge kit. I saw this question in reddit and someone said the same thing. So, that's my source really.

Go to Settings>Power & Startup and check Turn off storage when Xbox is off. That will turn off your external drive when the console is shut down. As for in Instant On mode I don't see my storage device on when the console is shut down.

That was the setting I was looking for, but, it does not work when in Instant-On mode (USB still gets power and is on). Thanks though!

I had that that setting enabled while in Instant-On mode and it did not solve my problem. I turned the setting off just for kicks, and it didn't change anything.

It does not appear to work with my USB device (Netgear's Push2TV). Maybe it is only applies to devices the Xbox recognizes as HDDs...where it can send a 'turn off' command or something?

FYI, in Energy-Savings mode (where the setting does not exist) the UBC device is still powered too.

That may be the issue because the option does say Turn off Storage. Perhaps an extra option to turn off all devices would be in order. You should post that in the Feedback section.
