  1. Xbox One USB power off - how?

I've seen some similar threads but no definite answers, I power a HDMI splitter from the Xbox USB port so I can play upstairs but when I switch off the Xbox the device stays powered on, so I have to go down stairs and unplug it, is there really no way I can power down the USB ports when switching off?

    :)

Xbox One USB power off - how?

I tried the oldest USB cable I could find and it made no difference.

Basically I'm not powering a external HD but a HDMI splitter, I want it to power off when I power off the Xbox but the USB ports always have power, I don't want this.

    If anyone can help thanks.

Xbox One USB power off - how?

Well basically usb ports are charge ports

    To charge controllers etc

    Since negible power draw

Its less then your alarm clock per hour

Hdds are don't use that much wattage in passive mode

Also your big screen TV that sitting in your living room it draws 10watts per hour which is more then most external hdds

    Even when off

Thr tv will keep some passive power so it knows when you click on on your remote

    Its passive power

So yes you want to remove a hdd while the console off or remove it from your console settings while it is on

OOYoir can't un power a hdd

Like we mentioned its NOT POSSIBLE.as hdd need power and you are talking about pd ports

Pd ports will always give power

You just going to have to accept passive power

Like 5watt per hour iyou do realize modern electronics are meant to be turned on on the fly right?

Your 1000watt stove uses powrr even though its off

Even your microwave or your fridge even computers draw power even off

Lack of power isn't good for electronics

If you want no power draw get a computer which you can pick and choose which device doesn't get a pd port or a non electronic device like a gas burner

Are you sure you want tk quible about 5watt per hour

Fyi what type of cable is it

    Type c ?

Then no you will never be able to power it down

And pretty sure powered switches are supposed to be powered regardless as you are supposed to be able to press on and off

Its not a passive powered device if it needs s plug

It doesn't use power that you will see on your bill

5watt per hour will most likely only cost you a couple cents over 8hours

Thry don't count watts they count kilowatts per hour

Id you are worried about 5cents per day shouldn't you be more worried about your stove or microwave that uses watts per hourwhen off vombined

Did you know your phone charger still passively draws power when not pluggrd into your phone when still connected to the wall?

It ain't as much when it is plugged in

Xbox One USB power off - how?

ok ill try it and ill report back but I've never heard this suggested, there are lots of threads about the usb ports all-ways being active after the xbox is switched off and this leaves external hard drives on and I've never heard this being suggested as a solution.

    Thanks.

Either get a non PD usb cable or unplug it

Most recent usb cables have PD available this is part of usb 3 standards

Yiu can still get non pd but best to read the description

If it's a type c connection get a no name brand
