  1. Xbox One USB Keyboard Support

I've tried getting this information out there as much as possible, but I'm not having a lot of luck actually getting an answer from anyone at Xbox whether or not its supposed to be officially supported or not. So, regardless of "official" support for it,
heres how to get your Xbox One working with a USB keyboard (Wired or Wireless)

    1. Turn off your xbox completely. Not Standby.

    2. Plug in the USB keyboard cable or dongle (if wireless)

    3. Turn on your console.

    4. Voila.

    5. Enjoy.

Buying an external keyboard to my Xbox One, need some suggestions!

This is incorrect. The XBOX One does support USB keyboards and wireless USB keyboards. I use the Microsoft Media keyboard...

Honestly, I don't think Xbox One users need a manual on how to plug in a USB keyboard, lol.

Most are likely using Smartglass anyway.

A list of all compatible keyboards would, I think, be much more useful.

  5. Sure, heres the list.

    1. USB Keyboards.

lol. Seriously though, I've tried 3 different brands, wired & wireless, and I'm fairly certain compatibility won't be an issue. Maybe with super high end keyboards, but even still they should support basic USB keyboard functions. Most people who have tried
using a keyboard on XB1 have tried doing it with the console already on. I've seen a bunch of posts with people complaining that they can't use a keyboard on it. Its useful information.

  6. I've heard of a few keyboards not being compatible. Which brands or models I couldn't tell you as I haven't tried myself, smartglass works just great for anywhere that a controller may feel a little cumbersome.

  9. arrow keys for moving about the options and the enter button to select. HOWEVER, I have yet to figure out how to go back with the keyboard. My apartment walls are thin, so yelling at my Kinect is out of the question. Hand gestures are still lacking and flawed
in my low light conditions. Using the controller wastes that battery and becomes a hassle to use more than one controller.

Tl;dr i would personally love a hot key list for the keyboard, a back button, maybe customizable keys. Makes for easier browsing of Netflix, YouTube, and tv. Maybe personal media... one day?

  10. Fact, I did some exploration similar to first time sexual ecounters. It's not perfect, but here is what I've found.

    arrow keys: directional selection

    tab key: individual selection

    backspace: BACK (b)

    enter: select (a)

no start/ select keys sadly. mouse pad on my keyboard ignrored every command in IE, in fact IE was the blackhole of all commands via keyboard, so i gave up on it before searching for my favorite personal recreation cite.

  11. ESC also functions as a back button. Also to help with yelling at kinect, I would try turning up your volume to high and slowly bringing it down to the maximum that kinect can still recognize your voice (use the "kinect can't hear me" option in settings)
.. since I've done this & had it calibrate it seems to hear me better.. I can say for example "xbox, show menu" in a lower-than-conversational voice & it hears me. Might help with your thin walls , although the calibration might upset the neighbours. lol.

Had to ask, low light conditions...? You know the kinetic does not need light, it uses infa red. Just sayin. I think its just not that good for motion navigation.

  13. Xbox One USB Keyboard Support

Hoping someone could help... I have a Logitech K400r. I'm able to use it with XB1 - but minimum functionalities only. For instance, I can't use the actual mousepad. Also, I can't use the qwerty keyboard to type in Netflix search. Any one else has the
    same issues?

  14. Sally, The mousepad won't work unless they enable mouse support, which I can't see happening. As for the rest of the keyboard, have you gotten it working for things like Netflix? It may be that it needs specific drivers when it's installed and doesn't use
the normal keyboard HID drivers so it may not work. I have used generic logitech keyboards as well as a Mac designed keyboard and it's worked fine. If you can't get it to work, I'd try a different one.
