Controller Stuck ON, Controller Does Not Respond to Button Presses, XBOX One Not Playing Game

There is an issue with having your Xbox One in the "Instant On" feature. The symptoms of that is loading the game and then it forcing you to home screen. To fix this go to Settings --> Power & Start up --> Click on power mode and have it be Power-Saving
mode. The controller not working is probably due to not updating the controller. To update your controller you will need a USB to Micro-USB cable, like the ones that you plug into your smartphone into a USB wall charger. Insert the Micro-USB end into the front
of the controller and the USB end into the left side of the Xbox, near the disc tray but on the left face. Then go to Settings --> System --> Update controller. Make sure you have an active internet connection and plug your headset into the controller, (the
default Xbox One Headset) as it will update the headset too.

Console thinks a headset is connected when one isn't
How would I go about updating the controller?
You'll need to connect the controller with a micro USB and to the console a standard USB 3.0

Something similar to this

Once connected to the console and controller go to settings - kinect & devices - devices & accessories - xbox one wireless controller - update

Any able to get Xbox One Elite Controller to work on Win 7/8/8.1?

As mentioned above my Win7 system IS currently using the original Xbox One controller just fine, but if I plug in the new Elite controller it only detects a "Controller" with exception (e.g. The drivers for this device are not installed.
(Code 28)). Forcing a Windows Update check using the troubleshooting option, searching Windows Update returns "Controller doesn't have a driver". I have tried this on three different systems (Win 7, Win 8.1, Win 10) and only the Win10 machine
finds a new driver to download.

I have double check the driver version shown on my original Xbox One controller and that matches the search data on that page you sent. (e.g. Driver Date: 5/26/2014 Driver Version: 6.2.11059.0). I would appreciate it you could provide a
link to more recent drivers, since it is clear that the current drivers for the original Xbox One Controller for Windows do NOT support the Xbox One Elite controller in Win7.

Here is the list of support devices from the drivers you provide:

[Microsoft.NTamd64]

%USB\VID_045E&PID_02D1.DeviceDesc%=XboxOneController, USB\VID_045E&PID_02D1

XBox controller charging but not detected when plugged on USB port

Hello XBF - Hayabusa,

I am using a XBox One controller. I checked again for Firmware update and there was an update to v2.3.2385.0.

It has changed slightly the behaviour of the controller :

• if the controller is switched on while plugged on USB, XBox button will flash approximatively 20 seconds and the controller will shut down (no change on this part)
• If controller is switched on while in wireless mode, it starts normally. It is then possible to plug USB cable to charge the battery (before this update, battery charge would not start when the controller was on and connected to bluetooth)
I tried removing the controller then installing through USB, but since the controller can't stay on while on USB, controller is not detected.

Xbox controller unable to connect to Windows 10

Have you checked to see if your computer has all the latest Windows Updates? That may be required for the controller to work correctly.

Also, please try another USB port and another USB bus - such as using USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0 and using a port on the back of the PC instead of the front.
