  1. Xbox One UPnP vs Port forwarding

Ok so 90% of the time I have an open NAT and it's fine but sometimes I get a strict NAT and I don't think UPnP works properly. I have got the NETGEAR R7000 Nighthawk. Would it help if I had the Xbox One ports enabled in port forwarding along with UPnP being
    enabled?

    :)

Bump, Im trying to figure this out too.

I have all my ports open for xbox but i also have UpnP enabled. Only problem is, under the Upnp it doesnt show my Xboxs IP address. So would we be better off disabling Upnp? and fowarding all the 88, 53, 3074 ports?

    Thanks i advance.

  5. Do you think it would just be easier to put the Xbox One on the DMZ?

  6. I see ppl doing that I don't know why you would do that.

There are some great pieces of info on that site as well as the Xbox support site.

I've forwarded ports and had no issues unless it was an ISP problem or software update from Xbox

DO NOT enable UPnP and forward ports. It will cause conflicts.

If you have multiple consoles on the same network and are trying to connect to Call of Duty AW,

You need to open additional ports to get an Open NAT.

Disable UPnP and open 3075 along with the other necessary ports for 1 additional console. If you have 2 additional consoles, open 3075 and 3076. UDP

  9. I ended up changing the Xbox One IP from 192.168.1.7 to 192.168.1.15 kept everything else the same and put that IP in DMZ.

    Xbox One showing Strict NAT

Another question I would have if I did manually forward the ports is, what happens when I try to play on my 360 and all the ports are forwarded to the One? From what I've read on uPnP vs. manual port forwarding, you do one or the other (meaning, if you
forward ports, you turn uPnP off). uPnP works on the 360, but (apparently) not on the One, so that means I'd be switching router configurations every time I switch consoles? Seems like a major headache.

I have been experimenting with 2 xbox one's behind the R7000 with UPnP.

In principle it will work fine but there is a small problem. It seems that when you start up the Xbox one form standby (not the power saving mode) or you are fooling around with the Settings/internet menu, it can happen that the port mappings that have been
been with UPnP can get lost. This will result in a Strict NAT.

Switching the Xbox to power down state and restarting will clear this up.

Under "normal" conditions this will not happen.

Also never restart your router while Xbox one is on. If you have to restart your router always first shut off your network devices that rely on UPnP.

When router is restarted, restart the network devices.
