Xbox One UPnP Bug

I've been having trouble with UPnP since I got my xbox one. I have a router that has support for UPnP. It worked perfectly with my Xbox 360.

I believe there is a bug in the Xbox One's UPnP client. It seems to request a port only after a hard reboot. The result is that I have an "Open" NAT type after a hard reboot until the UPnP expires. Then, my NAT goes back to "Moderate".

I have seen other people having this issue. Someone posted more details on another forum: Xbox One NAT/UPnP issues - one year in and they're still not fixed.

It's a little hard to find information on since so few people understand NAT types and how they work. I'm not sure where else I can report this issue.

What is a a cone NAT?

Yes I've always used static IPs even with UPnP.

Now I've dug out my old home hub 3. And the xbox one has no problem opening ports on that.

I now have open nats on xbox one dashboard, xbox one cod ghosts and xbox 360.

I've used a upnp mapper and it's listing the both the xbox one and xbox 360 have opened the required ports.

It's just unfortunate that the home hub 3 has a bug where UPnP will just stop working after a couple of days requiring a reboot. I know it's a bug in the actually router and not just a fault in mine because my mate has a home hub 3 and gets nat issues every
couple of days

I will just have to use this router for now until either the home hub 5 gets a firmware update to fix compatibility or the xbox one does.

 

Nat type won't let me do anything. What do I do?

Demonware is the upnp port mapping used by activision games on xbox one, ps3 and ps4.

Games like COD and destiny use it. If port 3074 is being used by demonware then its likely you have been playing COD,Destiny or some other activision game on your ps3.

As you have more than one console that requires port 3074 then you cannot use port forwarding or the DMZ. You must use UPnP only.

You should delete any port forwarding and DMZ settings and make sure UPnP is switched on. After doing so restart the router.

You should also switch the xbox to energy saving mode as instant on mode has a bug where the nat goes strict after switching the console on. It doesn't happen to everyone but its quite a common bug.

I personally never use instant on because of this bug.

If still getting problems post the make and model number of your router and then maybe someone with knowledge of that router can help.

 

Hi try doing a reset on your xbox in your settings

 

Various routers, xbox one steadfastly refuses to provide open NAT. Even when I put it in DMZ it wont provide open NAT. This is out of a cold start not standby either.

If MS want to go down the path of xbox as a whole being sold as a service, I would respectfully suggest they need to fix this. Im on my second console now.

Xbox 360s work fine (two of them, on the same network, same time)

 

pretty old thread ....start a new one and list your modem and router setup (brand and model #'s)
