Xbox One Upgrade

If they are serious about Upgrade, may I suggest one of those high end AMD R9 GDDR5 graphics. It also needs to have 8GB or 16GB or GDDR5 RAM, DDR3 has terribly slow bandwidth compared to GDDR5. Is DDR4 better? It's newer than GDDR5 and DDR3. It also needs
to have a quad core or better AMD or Intel processor capable of around 3Ghz speed. Xbox 1's 8 core AMD Jaguar can do 1.75Ghz where as PS4's AMD Jaguar 8 core APU is only clocked at 1.6Ghz. Intel Core i7-6700HQ is a high end 6th gen Intel quad processor with
a base speed of 2.6Ghz and can do up to 3.5Ghz. Planet Coaster is in alpha testing by Frontier the game will release for PC late this year and to play it on High settings your PC needs an AMD R9 series GDDR5 graphics or GTX 990 or something GDDR5 graphics
AND 16GB RAM. Even most laptops even with Intel Core i5 6200U 6th gen Intel processors or duo core CPU's will struggle to play the game on even low resolution low game settings and you need a bare minimum 8GB RAM. Some people may think 8GB RAM future proofs
a device but it doesn't. Games are requiring more specs and powerful hardware. Even I can play The Sims 4 on High Settings on an Intel Core i5 6200U processor.

 

A console is a console, the reason i purchase a console is to get away from all the upgrade this and that scenario's on pc. they start doing this on console it will become a cash grab and they will start bringing consoles out sooner and sooner, maybe time
to pack in gaming.

I was reading something the other night, it suggested Sony and MS know the NX is going to be a lot more powerful than people realise, and this has put the scares on both Sony and especially MS. Of course this is all rumours but it would explain a lot.

 

A more powerful console to play Zelda and Mario....Sorry but i'm not a 6 years old kid anymore.

Nintendo will need more than just hardware power to sell me one their machine.

 

The thing is with Nintendo, they do have a big fan Base, even though it hasn't shown with the WiiU. If they put out a console that blitz the competition and also had all the multi platform games (which the WiiU didn't), it could easily be an instant success.
Sony and MS know they shouldn't underestimate Nintendo.

Nintendo is still awesome and I wouldn't just think all they have is Mario and Zelda.

I agree with Farscape totally, but Lost Kauz made a post about how he thinks it will go down eventually. It's not what I want to see but I can totally see it happening. I can't link his response here as I'm on my phone.

The days of standard consoles will be over after this gen. They will be upgradable next.

 

I'm not 6 years old either but I still would want a Nintendo console, I find it weird and naive people think it's a kids console.

But going back to the upgraded consoles, in another 3 years Sony and MS will be wanting you to buy the PS5 and XB2 and if upgrading consoles every couple of years become the norm then my gaming days could becoming to an end.

 

I'm not saying that it can't be successful,i just don't see any interest to buy one....

 

That's the advantage of the PC platform, after your initial purchase you will rarely ever need to get a completely new system. There will always be something that you can bring across to a new build.

If the console manufacturers do go the upgrade route, or hell a new system every two years, I can really see this as the console end of days.

Sounds like it might be the end of gaming days for some console gamers then... and I can't say I wouldn't be one of them. As others have said... if I wanted to play on a PC, I'd
get one.

I like my console. I like the fact that, when I buy it, I know it will have a certain life expectancy and that I won't have someone (company) nagging the **** out of me about how
much better my games will look/perform with "upgrade X". Not to mention wondering if upgrade X is actually going to live up to it's claims and do so without causing other issues, especially stability issues.

I have nothing against those who game on, or prefer PCs, but IMO, if PC gaming's list of 'advantages' was so much better and came with no disadvantages of its own, the console
market would've crashed long before this point.

 

It's the games I enjoy more than the means to play them, so I'd not give up gaming because my preferred platform took a step in the wrong direction, I'd either go with the flow or find another means to play them.

I was sat thinking what I'd enjoy as a hobby as much as gaming, can't think of anything.

 

Blue that wasn't a slight against the consoles. Their great strength is that they are a static platform, that they don't take any tinkering with. You buy a console and it'll be playing games as it did on the first day you bought it to the last day you retire
it.

When you start to take that away you remove one of the big reasons why people buy consoles.

 

Hang on Wait! wasn't MS the first to Discuss upgrading the xboxone mid cycle? Then Sony Announces 4.5 or someone does and now its MS who is playing Catch up? How do Sony keep doing this and people gulp it up?

Also the next console wont even be able to do games at 4k native.
