Xbox One Upgrade

I have noticed just latey there has been a lot of rumers of an upgrade for current consoles, now please bear with me on this as there are many different opions.

Lets just say for one moment Microsoft Offered an upgrade device add-on that would connect to your Xbox One, allowing the Upgraded Unit to enter the world of VR.

(Microsoft have no plans for VR and Xbox One that i know of)

Before you jump on my back let me explain, This idea could or would have avantages to the end user in the way of Choice, rather someone else deciding on what is best for your gaming experience.

For example :

Some people maybe dont want VR and some people do, but it does not end there, because there is no reason the said add-on could not be used for more than just VR games, maybe you could now decide to buy the upgrade not for just for VR but also the ability
to scale games to 4K.

This would give Microsoft the option to build an Xbox One 4K ready system and also allow current Xbox One Owners the Option to enter the 4K gaming arena and not have to buy a complete new system.

Much like a PC you dont Need to buy the game again to play in 4K you simply select 4k in the game options, so they could in theroy off an update to current games to change the screen resoultion for 1080P or 4K mode.

i would not be suprised in the least if thats what the PS4 has planed with it VR add-on, the ability to play VR games Or 4K games, thus those who jump on the VR band wagon will also have the ability to play 4K games, then makes sense to release an 4k / VR
ready console ...

Either way It would be a win win for what ever company pulls this off.

Maybe the Add-on is the way forward for an easier move to 4K from current standard 1080P/900P

Just my thoughts to why i think an Add-on could be the quikest cheapest way for the current console to catch with the much wanted 4k standard also making the transition a less painful move for those who have own the latest games consoles.

Those who are happy with current standars buy an Xbox One others have the choice of an Upgrade while those who dont have a current Gen console could have the choice to upgrade to an Xbox One 4K ready system.

Why would that be a bad thing for gamers ? when it would be giving you the gamer the choice of 1080P/900P or 4K you will still all beable to game to gether you will just have the choice of do you want to play at 1080P/900P or 4K ?

after all these consoles have only been out a couple of years.

The Current Xbox one console has no upgrades Excluding ChatPad, External Hard hard dives and headsets 4K Resolution is not an option at the moment i would think they would release a new console with these features. as for the VR (Virtual Reality) it may
be Possible but more or less it won't be ran on traditional games such as GTA V or BO3. no the developers would have to push an update through adding VR to there games (Via in Game settings) and Microsoft would need to some how implement it to the Xbox Home
and Xbox Guide menu.

 

Im not saying so much for VR but for 4K games, at the end of the day these consoles share so much with PC tech it would be easy for Microsoft to add 4K via an update and upgrade. upto the software companys if they want to add 900P/1080P or 4k to there current
games But no company wants to be left behind and would soon add the switch as it would be easy because it's all based on the same code.

Same as they do with PC games a simple change of resolution in the game settings.

 

I Understand you want the upgrade from 1080P to 4K i understand That. But you need too know that these consoles can't run 4K Yet The next console Microsoft will release will run 4K Maybe even better i don't know but you'll just have too be patient. And yes
they do share a lot with P.C but P.C is different it's faster compared too these consoles depending on which one for me my P.C is very old so i do get my Console is faster then it but then my console can't do a lot of the things a P.C does.

 

This is exactly Why an Upgrade would make sence for Microsoft.

It would give those who already own an Xbox One the choice of keeping 1080P/900P or buy an upgrade to play games at 4k rather than having to buy a whole new system.

The upgrade would connect to usb 3 port then from the upgrades HDMI 2.0 to the TV, simple.

 

Sir/Ma'am i Understand that but it isn't that simple. an upgrade can't do that think of the connection to xbox live or any sort of server it would be terrible because of these high graphics. My statement still stands a new console would run faster and have
4K/VR Built in the console and if the user chooses to run 1080P or anything between they would have that option because not all TV's/Monitors are 4K Compatible

 

So if Sony can do it so why cant Microsoft?

Sir/Madam please dont take offence to what im saying, im mearly stating it would not be as hard as you think..

Maybe they should gett better skilled programers Who could achive this if it's that hard for them ?

I cant help but feeling Microsoft is playing so much catch up with hardware tech when it comes to Sonys logic way of thinking and achiving this.

Just look at sonys VR add on sold out at most places and thats be fore you can even get your hands on it, and like i say i would not be suprised if Sonys VR add-on also gives the user the choice of connecting to 4k TV and using for 4K games.

Im not stating thats a fact but it would make sence.

I guess we will see with Sonys VR in which case its going to leave Microsfts Xbox One way behind in gaming and Tech.

 

I'm not trying to be hostile please i'm sorry if i portray myself as hostile and i don't work with Microsoft/Xbox in any way shape or form i use to be part a program who helped users as much as we can and i am aware on Xbox's engineers and please just co-operate
with me i'm just letting you know whats going on and Sony the company has there own Projects which Microsoft isn't affiliated with eventually VR will be added to the console 4K is different it'll be harder for them.

 

It's a funny one Now let me be 100% honest.

I dont own a 4k tv an have no intentions what so ever on rushing out and buying one anytime soon.

I am interested in VR (my friend has the oculus rift DK2 with an gtx980) and 4k Gaming but again I am not going to rush out and buy the tech.

To be fair im in my mid 40's now been gaiming on PC's / consoles since the 1980's and im quite happy with the standard with the current Xbox One.

The point to my post was I cant help feeling Microsoft are falling way behind in tech and simple logic to catch up with there competitor.

And an Add-On may not be such a bad idea to bridge the massive gap thats about to hit.

Sony is also steeling alot of the lime light from Microsoft with Spec's and now VR.

Microsoft need to counter this with something worthy and without breaking what it has from this gen so far.

 

Sony are expected to announce a 4k console soon so MS will need to look at doing the same or face losing alot of their playerbase. (imo)

 

If Sony announce a better more powerful PS4 then MS almost certainly have too. The new Nintendo console is rumored to be more powerful than the PS4 according to leaks today. That would really put the One behind the 8 ball.

 

I'd rather get the new Nintendo console than upgrade my current PS4/XB1 3 years into this gen. If I wanted to upgrade I would be playing on a PC, stupid move imo.

 

Why buy a 4k console when the famous 1080p console,doesn't run all games natively at 1080p....and i won't say anything about frame rate......

If a 1080p upscale game on Xbox one is bad,i don't see how a 4k upscale game on a new Playstation can be good.....Arf,i forgot it's Sony and it's always good and perfect.

Best is to wait,when i see DICE who can't make a native 1080p game on consoles this gen. I don't see how they can make one in 4k.

Native 1080p isn't a standard on consoles,so thinking about 4k is a bit too early.
