XBOX One updates disabling external storage

Issue:

External hard drive disabled following weekly updates to XBOX One.

History:

On Friday, February 6th, I played Destiny for an hour early in the morning. Destiny is installed to my external hard drive (specs listed below). I ran errands for several hours and came back to play a bit more, except the Destiny icon was grayed out on my
home screen. Selecting the icon produced a message asking me to install Destiny from the XBOX store. I went to Settings>Manage Storage and the external storage device was no longer being read. I contacted Microsoft Support to solve the issue, which we did...eventually.
I plugged the device into my PC and formatted the drive. XBOX one recognized the reformatted drive and formatted it again. I then reinstalled Destiny.

Today, February 14th, I played Destiny for several hours in the morning and again left to handle the daily chores/errands. I came back to find once again, the hard drive is not recognized. The common link between both dates: weekly Microsoft updates. I am
in the process of reinstalling Destiny now, which usually takes 1-2 hours.

External Storage:

TrippLite USB 3.0 SATA RAID enclosure, containing 2x Samsung 850 PRO 256GB HDDs (set to RAID 0). It is powered externally and has a 3ft. USB 3.0 cable.

Questions:

- Has anyone else had similar issues with external storage? - Is there a setting that I can use to disable automatic weekly updates? - Is there another fix for this issue?

External HDD needed

Hi Jimbo,

its pretty unlikely, or even impossible to implement external storage within the next update.

As much as I read about it, its planned to implement external storage devices in the future.

A June system update to Microsoft’s new console will enable support of external storage devices, alleviating fears that owners will have to delete games when the system’s somewhat paltry 500 GB hard drive fills up.

The new feature, which Microsoft says was one of the most requested by users since launch, enables support for up to two external hard drives at once. Unlike the Xbox 360, which limited the size of supported external drives, there appears to be no limit here. You can disable automatic updates. This is a check box option in the Power & Startup section. Go to Settings, Power & Startup, and unselect the box Automatically download updates and purchases. You can also set it where your console does not turn off
the storage when the Xbox is turned off. I suspect that you have it set to turn off the xbox after 1 hour of activity and then you have it set to turn off the storage when the xbox is turned off and that this is causing your issue.

The Xbox One doesn't support flash or external drives at this time.

What drive are you storing it on internal or external hdd ? If external it can't be usrd
