xbox one update issues

I recently installed the new update and now when I turn on my xbox it doesn't show anything on the screen and the controllers will no longer connect. I'm extremely pissed that all I can do on this site is text with support when
this issue seems clearly to require a phone conversation to see if it can be rectified. Don't you people beta test this stuff before you roll it out. It looks like I'm going to lose years worth of data over a bad download and no reasonable means of support.

New Xbox One System Update Goes Live Today

Xbox One will be receiving a system update in the next few hours that focuses on addressing certain issues involving the dashboard, notifications, SmartGlass, and matchmaking, Microsoft has announced.

In a post announcing the new update, Major Nelson outlined just what the update will do:

Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
Addresses dashboard performance for some users
Offers improvements for Xbox One's TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time

The article also when on to note that those with the "Instant On" feature enabled will be first to get the update since it will roll out in waves. Everyone else will received it by Thursday 12/12/13. I for one am very happy to see Microsoft quickly begin to fix the many small issues or bug currently found on the Xbox One. We can only hope they continue to be persistent and hasten.

Sorry to see your having a problem with the update for the Xbox One. Please be assured that Xbox do test these updates internally and within the Xbox Insiders Group (Community members who want to test early updates).

Regarding your problem, please can you unplug everything from the console for at least 30 seconds. This will clear the cache for the Xbox One. Then, plug everything back in and see if it boots up?

It booted up but locks up every time I try to load a game it locks up and eventually kicks me back to the home screen. This thing now has some serious issues that did not exist prior to the latest update! It appears to be a paperweight at this time.

Hi SuperDuty6704

Your best shot at restoring your system is

1 - try a factory restore but chose to keep your files.

2 - use offline update to reapply the update in case something went wrong.

Hi there!

When the system update fails does it give you an error code and says something went wrong or does it simply say there was a problem with an update? If it gave you an error code then you can select a tile that says Troubleshoot and you can soft factory reset
your Xbox from there.

If it says there was a problem with the update, then there usually is an internet connection issue.

Follow this system update solution guide that will walk you through the issue you are experiencing and will offer some solution:

I'm having the update issue to, I guess all we can do. Also don't just bash MS, Sony got hacked to (what a Suprise for Sony)
