Xbox One update Error 8b050033

I'm currently running on an update from August and I can't update to the latest October update (I can't even download any game). When 'it's time to update

' message comes up and the Xbox tries to update, I get an error message saying 'There was a problem with the update'. It's the error 8b050033.

Everybody's saying that it's an error you get when an update isn't out yet and the Xbox is trying to download it.

But it is out, and I need it.

On 29/06/2018 my xbox one X initiated an update that went wrong. I performed an offline update that chrashed 3 times befor the 3 menues got a green tick. After restarting I had the same problem. How is an offline update effected by on line maintenance.?

Help! my xbox one x scorpio wont boot! error code 8b050033. network connection ok. Went through xbox support and they said its something with the insider program. i tried to reset to factory defaults, and offline update, but nothing works.

 

I've tried the offline update diagnostics tool. I then tried restoring the console to factory defaults. I still get the error.

 

Have you tried holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until everything shuts down then unplug everything from it for 5 minutes?

Also, if you are connected via a wireless connection try using an ethernet cable for the download.

 

Yes, I've tried that and several other things that I mentioned above. It still can't update.

 

Well I'm at a loss for this one then. I would recommend you contact phone support for more assistance with this as there isn't much information posted about that error code.

Not sure if you got this fixed yet, but I just had the same problem tonight and got it fixed. I ended up using my iphone as a wifi hotspot and connecting and updating directly from my phone, which for some reason let me download the "Unavailable Update"
on my xbox one. Same error code and all.

 

MAF, can you confirm which version of the OSUDT tool you were using? There are two different files, one essentially is for consoles with the factory O/S build on it and no updates applied. If you tried the OSUDT tool before restoring to defaults, you likely
used OSUDT 2, which is the correct file for the August OS build. However, if you restored factory defaults and it went back to the ORIGINAL O/S build, you likely would need to download OSUDT version 1 and try that first.

After restoring to factory defaults, it doesn't change the OS version/build. It stays on the same (August) update.

 

Ooh, that's interesting... I wonder why they didn't put in to allow the OS to be reset when doing a Factory Reset - it seems like a corrupt update installation could be one possible thing that would cause issues for people, but if they don't allow the OS
to roll back, it would basically never fix that problem....

The error message you are receiving indicates an issue with a system update for the Xbox One console.

To resolve this issue you will need to perform an offline update on your console.

This solution will work for the following error messages / Status codes: E-100, E-101, E-203, E-305, 8007019x, 800701E7, 80072xx, 8019019x, 87DDxx, and 8B050033

To perform the steps you will need a USB device and a Windows PC as Apple is not able to use the format needed.

Initial update (Right out of the box) - You will want to use OSUDT1

Any updates after initial update - You will want to use OSUDT2

If the update were to fail, you can also reset your console to factory default by using the third option on the list and then trying to obtain the update again.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you will need a console repair. Console repairs can be setup
