    Xbox One "Universal" Media Remote Doesn't Support CD playback?


    So I just got the xbox one "universal" media remote to use with my xbox one and found out it doesn't support cd playback in any way whatsoever, I can't even use the arrow keys to select the onscreen buttons manually.

    Seriously, Microsoft? I really hope you guys are planning on adding this in the future...

    I've heard a lot of complaints about the media remote for XB1. I was interested in getting one when I first heard about it, but it sounds like it lacks a lot of features that should have been available when it was released...

    Harmony Remote

    A lot more expensive than the MS remote, but it has decent amount of features. I bought one about three years ago and it works great. It was even updated pretty quickly after the X1 launch to control pretty much everything you
    need on the X1. The best feature for me is to remove several remotes hanging around. It can control up to 5 devices and you can program one button functions to turn on all your devices. It even has an eject button for the X1.

    I dont even understand why anyone would buy a universal remote for gaming that wasnt a Harmony.

    That Harmony remote looks great but I've honestly never been a fan of universal remotes at all. There's always one button that you can't seem to find on the universal and before you know it you're back to having 10 remotes and the universal one in the bin.
    It may be a little more cluttered but it's simple and you know they work.

    Thats how most universal remotes are Dynamic. But the Harmony remotes are so easy to use and customizable, you really wont need another remote.

    The best thing about the Harmony, is that you can program it with the computer program. No need for pointing two remotes at each other to learn commands. It is way easier, just plug up the remote to your computer. And off you
    go. The only issue I have with it, is sometimes it won't turn everything on/off. But that is minor in the overall function of the remote.

    Background playback is currently only implemented by a small number of apps because it was just introduced. There are several apps coming through the "Universal Windows App" program on the Xbox One that will support more playback devices and probably also
    one which can play CDs in the background.

    Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

    Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

    Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

    You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.
