xbox one unable to maintain xbox live connection since recent "upgrade"

hi bimnog, thank for the motivating word. I gave assigned a static ip to the xbox (connection seems to be back), but not sure how to do the port forward process. dos attack is disabled. I am going now to try the forward port part!

 

ok, so just a stupid question. in the port forward post, it is noted to select wireless. does this work even if I have a wired connection?

 

ok, so I did all and now will test the system! thank you for the help provided!

 

I'm pretty sure once you forward the ports , they are forwarded wireless and wired...

 

Good luck maybe now you can get a reliable connection without having to purchase new equipment. This process does resolve the issue for some but not for others. Good Luck & Happy gaming.

@ genesis1953: thank you for the wishes. I will keep posting updates here for the benefit of all. however, it seems obvious that at least in part microsoft is at the origin of the issue since the recent upgrade in xbox one. a little help (or at least an
acknowledgment) from them would have been nice. moreover, I think that the new "experience" on xbox one is ugly, confusing, and not intuitive at all!

 

just confirming that static IP + port forwarding have corrected my connection issues.

 

ok, so here we go again, back to the same issue than before! after a few weeks of peace, the system started the same BS of alternating between connected to not connected at all. as a reminder, I have did more than what is truly reasonable to fix the problem:
static IP + port forwarding. I do not see why I should invest roughly 300$ when the issue is clearly and directly related to xbox messing up with connection. I am about to give up and to get me a PS4 for christmas.

 

where are you getting $300.00 from ? around $100.00 for a modem and router that you OWN ....$120.00 a year for the router you are renting now...call Brighthouse , they should give you a new rental one if you ask , they did for the other guy and he said
it fixed his...and that they were aware of the problem...

@ bimnog: thank you for this. I do not know where this other guy lives, but here brighthouse are not the easiest to communicate with (I am trying to stay polite). I do understand the advantage of own vs rent. however, I am not sure that my technical skills
will be enough to set up the new item. in short, I am afraid to mess it up! by the way, what material would you recommend, if you can do that.

 

I can only say what I have that works and what I have had others get (not on this forum) and the modems did go up as I just checked , I gave about 50 for my modem and 50 for the router ....Netgear modem and a Netgear wrn2000 router that I hard wired because
I hate wireless...not sure you would "mess it up" , netgear comes with "netgear genie" which makes it pretty simple , but if I were you or ANYONE ELSE I would get it local and make sure of the return policy so if it dosent fix your particular situation , you
could return it ....install the modem first without the router and this will require a call to your isp so they can "turn it on" , then when all is well you can install the router....and like I said , you could call brighthouse and see if they will upgrade
you like they did the other guy....he was in Tampa if I remember right...

 

I am trying now to communicate with brighthouse and will come back to update.

 

so I did contact brighthouse, and they will be coming on saturday for a router "upgrade". let's hope that it will be enough to correct the situation!

 

I still don't like their equipment bur then other guy said he had success , so , fingers crossed...

 

It will definitely be interesting to find out if that corrects the issue. There are so many birghthouse users here that are having problems.
