xbox one unable to maintain xbox live connection since recent "upgrade"

hello to all and happy thanksgiving. my xbox one is unable to maintain a stable connection since the recent "upgrade". it constantly connects and disconnects which is ultimately annoying. when contacting support, they tried to convince that the problem was
my router, but since all other devices using the same wifi system works great, I think they are wrong! I tried numerous steps to fix the issue without success. the internet connection is there then it is not and the same process repeats constantly. under network
current status, 2 messages appear and change constantly: 1) all services available and 2) service info unavailable. I have seen on this forum that several other players/users encounter the same issue. it seems obvious to me that the issue comes from the recent
upgrade. anyway if anyone has found a solution, please do share it! thank you.

Connection problem - HELP

Hey guys,
So it's been about a year since I bought my Xbox 360 (newer generation), and my Xbox Live connection works 2 days out of 3. I use wireless connection. My Xbox is pretty far from my router, but when I connect to a network, my router shows up and there are usually around 4 bars. When I click on "test connection", this is where it tells me that the console is unable to connect.
Did anyone had this problem before?

 

Well , I gotta agree with support , it is your router , kinda , its xbox ones fault for being kinda picky (too picky really) but your using a "gateway " (modem and router) and they don't play well with xbox live for some reason and this has been majorly
exposed after the update...get a modem only and a gaming router that does UPNP well (Netgear is the most xbox friendly imo) , if your in doubt , get it somewhere you can return it if it dosent fix it (it will fix it) plus your probably renting that arris
from your isp anyway....

 

You could try some other things I guess , give the xbox one a static ip address , port forward the ports or put it in DMZ if you want to , some do have luck with that...

 

thank you for answering. hum, not sure if I understand fully your message. I am not the only one with the problem according to several posts on this forum, and none has reported a router issue. now the support are trying to convince me that I do not have
a subscription to xbox gold.

 

Yes , MORE than several , and almost all of them are using "gateway' routers from their isp's , like arris and asus , its been going on long before this update but mostly nat issues , now connection issues...people that have their own equipment like I suggested
have almost zero issues ...

 

Yes and those devices are very inexpensive and don't handle traffic that well. Best to go with a plain modem with a good router to better handle traffic.

Well, I have a modem only from my cable company and I have it connected to my Netgear 7000 router and I don't have any connection issues.

If your provider don't offer a modem only option find out from them what they suggest for a modem only solution and what you have to do to connect it to their service. Probably will involve connecting it to the service and calling them with the MAC address.
Once that is done buy a good router to provide the routing of traffic within your network. I have used both Netgear and Linksys higher end home modems successfully. I think you will be MUCH happier with that type of solution and then you have full control
over the router and configuration without having to involve them further.

 

ok, so I did follow an advice posted elsewhere by adding an ethernet cable between xbox one and router 1670a. it seems to be working (so far) without any other manipulation, although I would prefer to get back my wifi connection. anyway, it seems to demonstrate
that the issue is less related to the router itself than to the new upgrade of xbox messing up with wireless connection.

Would be great if you can hold on to your wired connection type a bit longer, so we can more easily determine if this is isolated to wireless connectivity (between DG1670A and Xbox One) or not.

Please do keep us posted and we'll work from there.

 

hi taidara! I certainly will post updates on the situation. so far, so good, but I did not get yet to the xbox today. I had to power sync both the xbox and router after adding the cable, but it did maintain a stable connection to xbox live for a couple of
hours. I will be back!

 

bad news! I am back with the same connection problems, even with a wired connection. the IP settings seem to change constantly. frankly, I am about to give up!

 

don't give up !!!...you can go down the "port forward , static ip road" if you want to try or you can get a new modem and router road.....

The following ports need to be forwarded for Xbox Live services:

Port 88 (UDP)

Port 3074 (UDP och TCP)

Port 500 (UDP)

Port 3544 (UDP)

Port 4500 (UDP)

Go to Firewall settings and make sure the option, DoS Attack Protection is unticked (disabled).

Don't forget to save your configuration and reboot the gateway afterwards
