Xbox One UI contrast & colour settings are damaging TVs (IR/burn)

Until yesterday I had a top of the range Panasonic Viera Plasma TV from 2013, their last, best series of Plasmas. One of the best TVs for getting as close to reference quality on Blu Rays.

Then I bought an Xbox One.

Then I had burn in the top right caused by the stupid insistence of displaying a high contrast, white Xbox Logo against a solid black background. No amount of image retention 'fixes' removed this, even after 48 hours+ of ongoing screen swipes with various
    videos.

However, the retailer I got the TV from determined that to fix the burn would be cost ineffective (thankfully I had the foresight to pay for 5 years warranty), therefore gave me the original cost of the TV towards a new one, a Panasonic Viera LED 4K set.
As you can imagine, my fears about the same thing happening are burned into MY brain now.

    Two questions...

    1) Why are Microsoft insisting that this stupid logo remain a permanent feature of the UI, especially given as its only Kinect-specific which I don't even use?

    2) What do other people do to avoid IR and even burn from occurring, given the risk is just as possible on LEDs as it is on Plasmas?

To be clear, I didn't leave the UI on for huge amounts of time at all, at most 30 mins or so and all the devices I own have 1-2 hour off-timers and screen savers to boot, yet that didn't seem to have helped my situation.

Right now I literally turn the TV off as soon as I'm done with setting something downloading but navigating around the UI will run this risk, the more I do it AND when the inevitable password change comes along I literally have no option but to leave the
    screen static until completion.

SORT IT OUT, MICROSOFT. Your unchangeable design decisions are ruining expensive TVs.

    :)

Which of the following tv's should i purchase?

When I see "gaming mode" in reference to TVs, I imagine its just a preset of colour/brightness/contrast settings. Am I wrong on this?

hiya what is the optimum settings for xbxo 360 im constantly having to change brightness contrast for various games my set is lg 32"

    brightness 45

    contrast 55

    backlight 30

    dynamic contrast off

    colour temp - medium

    gamma - medium

    sharpness 70

    colour 60

    black level - low

i have heard that you need brightness and contrast 50 or below but then the games are to dark even the ones with the own in game brightness adjust.

Image retention on LED/LCD is nowhere near as much of a problem as it is with plasmas.

I gave up with plasmas a long time ago when, my then, girlfriend decided to leave the Sex and the City DVD menu playing while she went to work. I've also noticed News Channel banners being burnt into plasmas at work.

Plasmas are great TV's for watching BluRays but that's about as far as they can go. I've seen no end of Burned in minimap outlines and tekken Health bars on plasmas to know that they simply are not catered for gaming. Sooner or later you'll inevitably have
some sort of screen burn or another because games always have some kind of static overlay.

Yu do also know you can change the background on your Xbox?

It won't get rid of the logo, but you can at least have a brighter background to lower the contrast of the logo.

Plus you've just got to trade in your TV for full cost for a new 4K set! If your Xbox hadn't have burnt your screen you'd not have had that...

    Every cloud.......

Appreciate the reply but IR is still a factor in LEDs. Maybe not as much as Plasmas but its still something to be aware of.

I've already changed the background to a lighter could to reduce the contrast but as soon as you navigate away from the homepage, the background isn't used anymore. Totally useless in that respect.

I just don't understand why Microsoft can't implement at least some modicum of user control over the UI in this way. I get that its not as big a problem for LEDs and I get that there's a tiny bit of workaround on the homepage but why am I even being forced
into the static UI contrast/design in the first place? The Xbox Logo, top right, serves zero purpose unless Kinect is attached, so why even display it if Kinect isn't attached?

    TV's

for the best colour and contrast LED is in the lead by far. Once you have set it up the way you want it

the vibrant colours will amaze you.

Both LCD and Plasma have their drawbacks ... LCD suffer from dead pixels and plasma's suffer from screen burn.
