I bought an xbox one without the kinect last weekend and been playing around with it but I can't seem to get the one guide to work right. I can't seem to change channels? I don't know if I need the kinect for that?

It depends on how you're trying to change the channels. You can't use the remote to change the channels, since the Kinect is what receives the input to pass through the command for the TV, but you should be able to use the controller, and the Xbox smart
    glass app.

The Xbox should go through a setup process to make sure the Kinect is sending the correct commands. I think it just asks for your TV provider and then the cable box that you're using. I think it will test the Kinect sending the commands during the process.

  7. You need the Kinect since that's what changes the channel. You can also just use your Tv remote.

Like Dangerboy said...the Kinect acts as an IR blaster... so if you don't have it there is no controlling any other components using your controller. Not sure you can even use the smartglass app since the only way your TV box would know to change the channel
is if it received an IR signal from Kinect.

I don't see how the guides D33les posted will help you. Those guides he listed assume you have the Kinect version (see all the references to "Say Xbox On") etc that will only function WITH Kinect. Again... the Kinect acts as an IR Blaster for your other
components. Essentially you are tying to change channels on your cable box without your remote control. You can watch TV via the Xbox... you will just have to use your cable box remote to change changes when you are in the TV app on your Xbox1.

Xbox series X has no in game sound but has sound on dashboard and everywhere else

it only happens to the Xbox X series + Samsung TV. I have Xbox one and a sony TV as well. I tried Xbox X series + Sony TV and Xbox one + Samsung TV. both work...

XB1/LiveTv works Great! but please add the following...

I would like to follow up on this idea of starting XBox One into TV Mode. It should be possible to wake up XBox one with two voice commands. One going to Xbox Startscreen ("XBox ON") and the other one with booting up to TV ("XBox TV")..
