Xbox One TV tuner record live tv?

Planning on getting an Xbox one and was wondering if Microsoft are ever going to release a software update for the xbox one to be able to record live tv? If so, I will be buying my xbox one now!

OTA USB TV TUNER SUPPORT

It would be nice to be able to plug in a usb ota hdtv tuner into the xbox one and use that for people who ony have internet and don't subscribe to a tv package. something like.

My bugbear with xbox one is the TV functionality. access to your existing recordings on the set top box is a must for me. They need to fix the live guide as well. Totally rubbish. Needs tabs so you can skip to catagorys like the sky guide. Not all of us
like talking to our TVs to change channel. Dont get me started on the 'media remote'. Waste of twenty quid.TV side of things is a work in progress at the moment. Be good when its sorted though.

 

There are licensing and copyright issues for that, so its unlikely to happen, but might.

 

I love talking to my TV and it's good that I can pause, rewind etc.

Be a lot better if I could schedule my recordings too and access them but too many different set top boxes to do that I presume

 

The challenge with the current TV Tuner is that it's a single tuner. If there was a software update to enable recording, you'd only be able to record the same channel that you're watching. Whilst that might not be a problem for everyone, it's wouldn't be
the seamless experience that Microsoft are going for.

With a dual-tuner though...technically that could work absolutely fine. If there's enough demand, I reckon they'd do it.

 

Recording would be very useful, so I could record all the movies that are on Film 4 at 9pm, when I am just setting off to work.

 

I have the USB TV tuner. You can't record, but you can pause, rewind and fastforward. I'm not sure how big the buffer is though.
