Xbox One TV control stopped working

Can you please check to make sure you are not obstructing the IR port on the front of your Xbox One S and also not blocking it on the television. On your Xbox One S the IR window is in the grey section near the power button on the front of your console
just beside the controller pairing button.

And now it’s working again. I ran through the set up again and this time when it sends commands they work.

I’m glad, but I want to be able to know why it stopped and how to prevent it.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm glad you were able to find the work around to the issue. One thing that may be needed to ensure the handshake confirms, is to ensure the devices (Xbox, TV, and controller) are all up to date.

The port is not blocked on any if the devices. Also, I have a Kinect and my understanding is that rhe signal comes from the Kinect device.

Regardless, none of the IR ports are blocked, on Xbox One S, on TV, or on kinect.

As I said in the original post, nothing has moved, and switching to a different code temporarily fixed the problem. That certainly doesn’t sound like a line of sight issue.

I can’t be the first and only person to have had this problem.
