Xbox One TV app turns off after startup

BACKGROUND: I've spoke with MS a couple times about this issue and it isn't solved; however, I seem to have found a workaround that might help others. Note: I've had the system since launch and been using the TV pass thru since then with the same cable
box - Motorola QIP6416-1 (Verizon FiOS). This issue first appeared mid-July 2014.

THE ISSUE: If the TV app is running and I turn off the xbox one (i.e. goes into hibernate mode) then restart the console, it automatically launches the TV app at start, video/audio will display for about 3 seconds then turn off to a black screen. Trying
to relaunch the app won't work, it requires a hard reset (holding the xbox one button for 10 seconds).

Workaround #1: Prior to console hibernate you can switch to any other app (i.e. netflix) then turn off the console. Upon restart the system won't try to auto-start the TV app. You should be able to click on the TV app and the video/audio should display
properly. Unfortunately, this requires you to consciously think about changing the active app prior to turn-off.

Workaround #2: Go to Settings--Power & Startup then change from 'instant-on' to 'energy-saving' mode. The console will 'shut-down' upon turn off rather than 'hibernate'. Unfortunately this requires a longer startup time.

If someone knows of a way to keep 'instant-on' functioning and avoid the issue of losing video/audio if the TV app auto-launches please let me know.

Xbox One Sleep Timer

So like many, I like to fall asleep with the television on. This was never a problem before I ran my TV through Xbox One, as I set the sleep timer on my Samsung TV, and it obviously eventually went off. Now, with Xbox One, I can still set the sleep timer on my TV, and the TV will of course still shut off, but the Xbox One will remain on all night. Anyway to prevent this? I see that it has an inactivity feature where it will turn off after a certain amount of inactivity, but having the TV on screen does not count as inactivity. I fall asleep, and my Xbox just runs all night.Click to expand...

Go to games and apps>settings>power and startup>turn off or restart>options: turn off after. Hope I helped.

In xbox settings goto pore and startup then tv and av power, then change xbox turns off cable box off

While it does not fix the issue, if you go to home screen from tv app, press menu button, you can quit the tv app. Click the tv app it will open and work fine until next time.

Have you set the Xbox One to control the power toggle of your TV? If so, it will send a signal to your TV to toggle the power state of the TV. Basically, if your TV is On before turning on your Xbox One then the signal sent to the TV will turn it off. If
it is Off before turning on your Xbox One, then it will turn On the TV.

Check the settings to see if this is the case. It should be under Settings -> Power & startup -> Power mode & startup -> TV & A/V power options

Unplugging the device and waiting for a minute or so resets the system back to Energy-saving mode. You can do the same without unplugging it by going into the System->Power and startup menu.

Select Energy-saving.

Back out of the menus and

Turn the Xbox One off (either by speaking "Xbox Turn off" or doing it with the controller).

Turning it back on clears up the issues with Apps and TV. The issue is being looked at.
