Xbox one turns TV and Receiver off if they're already on.

I have a logitech harmony for xbox remote that I use with my Home theater setup with multiple devices.

If I know I am going to use only the Xbox One, I want the Xbox One to be able to turn on everything.

Sometimes I will be using a different device with my TV and Receiver but then I want to switch to my Xbox One, but when I turn on my Xbox One, it tries to turn on my TV and Receiver, but they're already on and the Xbox One sends the power toggle command
which turns them both off. So I started with my TV and receiver on and my XB1 off and now my XB1 is on, but my TV and Receiver are off.

I know for a fact that my TV (Samsung LN40A650) and Receiver (Onkyo TX-SR607) have separate Power On and Power Off commands (that will leave them on if they are already on and vice versa) because I can issue them from my universal remote.

Why can't the Xbox One use power On/Off commands instead of the dumb Power Toggle commands if they exist for the device in question?

    :)

Xbox Video and Audio problems connected to a reciever with multiple inputs, cablebox, and TV.

In regards to problem #2 with the on/off commands being out of sync...it might be that some of your devices use an on/off toggle command (ie, it sends the same signal for both on and off). All it's doing is blasting the IR signal for all of your configured
devices, so if any of your devices use the same IR command for on and off (and a lot do), there's no way around this. The XBone/Kinect ccan only send the IR command that it knows...it has no knowledge of the current on/off state of the connected devices.

    Here's my setup:

    - DirecTV receiver connected to Xbox One

    - Xbox One connected to Pioneer A/V receiver

    - A/V receiver connected to my Vizio TV.

    - All connected via HDMI (obviously).

The only device in the chain that has separate IR commands for on/off is the DirecTV receiver (I know this because there are separate buttons for on/off on the DirecTV remote).

    Here's a common situation:

My son wants to play the Wii U, so he turns on the TV, the A/V receiver, and the Wii U, then changes the A/V receiver input to the Wii U and starts playing. He never touches the XBone. An hour later, I want to play some Forza, so I give him some B.S. chore
to do so I can take over the TV. I turn on the Xbox One and the "instant on" feature turns on the DirecTV receiver, but it turns off the A/V Receiver and the TV. Since the Xbox was turned on, it sent the "on" command to the DirecTV receiver. However, it sent
the on/off toggle command to the TV and A/V receiver (again, that's all it knows). Because they were already on, they get toggled off and I have to turn them on individually.

I think you just have to teach everyone in your house to always turn the TV on by turning on the Xbox One, even if they aren't using it specifically. That way, they're always kept in sync.

  3. "Xbox on"----TV turns off

So if I'm watch tv without the xbox one on and decide to turn it on, my tv shuts off. Same with if my tv is already off and I turn off my xbox one the tv turns on. Any idea what I'm doing wrong or where I could find the settings to fix this annoying but
    very minor problem?

Xbox one turns TV and Receiver off if they're already on.

Great idea - it's kind of a hassle to have the One turn off my TV and sound system, and then i have to manually turn each one on again to use them for something else. Then have to reverse it all again when i turn on the One.

  5. Hey guys,

Just letting you know that this should be fixed in the June update. Once that comes out, go ahead and tweak your power settings to use discrete on/off commands if you want to.

TV Turns off when turning xbox on

Guess you have set up the xbox to turn on the tv and receiver. So it tries to do that when it is turned on (Xbox cannot sense that it is already on).

Your tv model responds to turn on/off with the same infrared signal. So when it is on, it will turn off and vice versa with the same command. That's not a fault/problem from the xbox but from the tv manufacturer.

    So two options:

    - always turn on the tv by turning on the xbox and turn the tv off by turning the xbox off

    - or do not let the xbox turn on your tv and do that manually

    X box one x broblem

There's an option for the Xbox to automatically turn on/off the TV when it's turned on/off.

    Take a look here:

    https://pureinfotech.com/setup-xbox-one-automatically-turn-on-tv-audio-receiver/

It's under Settings -> All Settings -> TV & OneGuide -> Device Control.
