Xbox One - Turns itself off & wouldn't read game discs..

My 2 sons and I have 3 Xbox Live accounts between us. I bought an Xbox one from just before Christmas for my son, and wrapped it up. On Boxing Day my son opened it and it was faulty (the machine turned itself off after the first update and would not restart).
To my disappointment, and after several hours online and on the telephone, Microsoft would only exchange the faulty machine if I had a credit card (which I do not), and so I had to borrow a friend’s credit card to place the retainer on, so a new machine could
    be sent as a replacement.

I was in the market for a new console, so I decided to purchase another Xbox one from Argos on 28th December 2013 and give it to my son, whilst the replacement was on its way. This worked fine.

I have today received the replacement machine from Microsoft. The courier was under no instruction to take away the faulty machine and so I now need to make arrangements for that to be collected and sent back next week, for the retainer to be lifted. This
whole situation has cost me 20hours+ of fannying about.

Upon switching the replacement on and getting myself excited at the thought of playing Forza 5, it soon materialised that this new machine would not read game discs (the discs work fine on the other Xbox one). After several hours online and on the telephone
again I now need to send this one back too (another retainer needed). This means I have spent £900, got £660 pounds of retainers on my friends credit card AND I have 3 Xbox ones in my house with only 1 of them working. Not to mention the amount of Xbox Live
time that we are paying for that we can not use. I am so upset, frustrated and angry, in retrospect; I very much wish I had opted for the Playstation 4 instead.

    :)

My xbox one turns itself on after I turn it off, how can I stop that? Power mode is set to energy saving, & auto up dates are turn off.
