Xbox one turns itself off when starting a game

    Xbox one turns itself off when starting a game


    I purchased an Xbox one in the US, and got it over to India. Mind me, I did use a voltage converter, but turns out it was faulty and my power brick failed on me. That is to say, it made an ominous noise. So my xbox one wouldn't start. But i got another power
    brick, and I was extremely delighted to know that my xbox turns on. But the problem is, that is all it ever does. When I start a game, it turns off in five seconds of doing so. Same goes with using kinect and some apps. Now what I think is that the internal
    power unit of the xbox one might have been damaged. So I thought to repair it in some shop. Any advises on this matter?

    xbox 360 randomly turns off

    My console turns on and then off by itself and when I turn it on it shuts off withing a min or so from starting

    Hi Schweinedämon,

    Thank you for keeping us updated in regards to the console shutting off during game play.

    Please
    try changing the console to
    Energy-saving mode    . To change this setting:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide (Don't hold the Xbox Button on the controller)
    2. Select System > Settings
    3. Select Power & startup > Power mode & startup.
    4. Select Power mode to change the setting to Energy-Saving
    Then restart the console by pressing the
    Xbox Button again. Go to System and select
    Restart Console     (Not Settings). Also, make sure the power cable is plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector.

    Let us know if this helps Xbox one turns itself off when starting a game :)

    Sorry to hear it. Where did you purchase the power brick from? If it is not an official Xbox power brick it still may not be providing enough power to the system.

    You should contact support for India to see if they have one available for purchase for a console in India. 000-800-440-1179

    Barring that, if the console is damaged it would need to be sent in for repair. Sending it to a local shop is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service and could result in the console being banned. The link below will assist in setting up a repair for

    It was a problem with the adapter after all, i got my cousin to bring his adapter and the console worked smoothly. Thanks for the valuable reply!

    For some reason my console keeps turning off by itself. It will start playing a game and then all of a sudden it turns off. Happens everytime I try to do anything. One time it even happen when I wasn't doing anything.

    Hey there WoolenGuide6311,

    Sorry to hear about the issues with the console randomly turning off. We do have a guide for this though and sometimes it's a simple fix with just making sure the power cord connecting to the console is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Give it a shot
