Xbox one turning on by itself

a few nights ago my Xbox1 would turn itself back on after I shut it down for the night. This is happening with increased frequency. Just last I was on the xbox1 for 2 hours then shut it down, after about 30 minutes the xbox1 (all linked devices) turned on.
Again I shut everything down, the xbox1 turned on again, so I unplugged it. Has anyone experienced this, if so, what did you do to correct this issue?

XBOX ONE turning on by itself

Firstly, how is the Xbox connected to power? Is it plugged directly to the wall outlet, or behind a power strip/surge protector? The latter can cause electrical "hiccups" with the system, as the Xbox One's power supply already has built-in surge protection.

it's in power saver mode. The front is clean and unobstructed.

Heya BucShot1906.

To start, do you have your Xbox One plugged directly into a wall outlet or are you using a power strip? If you're using a power strip, make sure you're plugging directly into a wall outlet. Also, do you have any USB devices plugged into your Xbox One?

try to clean the front panel - power and eject areas with damp soft tissue, also make sure it is not close to things that can cause interference, like if console is next cell phone , house phone, audio receiver, etc, make sure it has some distance between
console and other electronics. Also maybe move console and see if the same thing happens. ,

Hey ImWatchinYou69! Is the console plugged directly in to a wall outlet? Are you using Energy-Saver mode or Instant-On? When the console turns on, do you hear the chime from the console as well? Post back and let us know!

Hey there leogaboardi,

That's an interesting problem for sure. Is your console in Instant On mode or Energy Saving mode? It's possible the console is downloading updates so it appears to be on. Is this an Xbox One S console or an original Xbox One console?

My xbox one also turns on at seemingly random times. It did it this morning while I was still in bed and last night while I was on a different floor of the house. No schedule that I can tell. Two changes that happened recently the fall update and I changed
to energy saving setting.

Yep, definitely sounds like a stray signal from something else.

There are now that many devices that have remote control or use wireless signals that it`s entirely possible for one to cause interference with another.
