xbox one turning off in like 10seconds after turning on

This happened to my OneX. It would boot past the initial animation and then crash. Usually unplugging it for 5 minutes (hold the power button once it's unplugged for a few seconds) and rebooting worked. It turned out I'd had a failed console update I hadn't
noticed as I tend to not watch the update as it's doing.

I believe it's possible to force an update via USB, maybe you could try that.

The Xbox automatically shuts down soon after it starts up, most likely because of hardware damage. We should call the service station for testing and repair

yeah not a newb i did all that. So i reset the xbox by pressing power button,eject button and controller sync button and reset it. it reset it and started working fine, once i plugged external drive in it shut off. Now that i took it out it still turns
off automatically. I plugged the external drive and the PC isn't recognizing it. Can a bad external drive mess your xbox up? i was gonna try to reset it again and not use external drive this time. I never heard of a bad external drive shutting a device down.
Could this really be the problem? a bad external drive.

make sure you are connected to the main wall outlet and not an extension or surge protector to ensure you get the full required amount of power to the console.make sure your xbox is free from dust and is well ventilated. make sure your power supply box
has a white light when connected if its orange then its likely you will need a new supply.

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button  on the console or the Xbox button  on your controller.

If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.
