XBOX ONE - Turning itself on at random intervals.

    Heya,

our Xbox one, Forza 6 limited edition console keeps turning itself on randomly. it does it day and night and we have to then turn it back off again using the controller. it's not a very old console only a year or so old.

we have tried changing settings for auto updates etc. but nothing seems to be working? what is this problem and how do we fix it? and if we can't fix it are microsoft going to pay our increased energy bills from the Xbox turning itself on? (even when we
aren't home) and/or give us a new console if it's faulty?

thanks for any help you can give us.

    :)

    Xbox One Turning Itself On?

My Xbox One (Day One) is turning itself on. My friends get alerts at random times telling them I am online, but I'm not near my xbox and my house is empty. This morning I was getting ready for work and I heard it turn itself on in the other room. I heard
the distinct chime, and walked into the room to see it on.

What is going on and how to I stop it from turning itself on?

  3. My XBOX ONE keeps turning on by itself.

I keep seeing my Xbox one turning on by itself at random times. Is there a mic or source that allows it to turn on like this? I do not use the cam nor have it.

What can be done to fix this?

    Thanks

There can be a number of reasons why it's turning on. Your power settings may be set to instant on, and as such it's turning on because of something the console needs to do. Your power button might be very sensitive, give it a clean with a lint free cloth
(specs cleaning cloths usually do the trick). Your power supply might be faulty or your wall socket could have a problem, try plugging it into another wall socket, that may fix the issue. Someone else in your neigbourhood, near you, may also have an xbox
one, and his controller is set to the same frequency as your xbox one, and is turning on your console. Failing all of that, you could just try turning it off at the wall socket and turning back on when you want to use it.

    Thankyou for your help.

the power setting is on energy saving, so it's not that. we have tried unplugging it and plugging it back in again and it's still happening. i very much doubt any of my neighbours have an xbox at all because they are mostly older people. i have asked around
to see if anyone has one and most of them don't know what an xbox even is!

we can't really keep it unplugged all the time because we have a very specific set up through a extension (surge protection) and it's quite hard to get to for daily use. we can unplug it occasionally but doing that every day would not be possible. we have
also tried a different wall socket and it still does the same.

is it possible that the console is just simply faulty?

we clean the console meticulously, once a week with a lint free cloth so i don't see that being the problem either.

what happens if this continues? do we report it to xbox (microsoft?)

Thanks for replying to me with all the helpful suggestions- if you've got any more up your sleeves i'd be grateful.

  6. Hey there flower1988ck,

That's likely your problem, the surge protector. The Xbox One console has one built in and if you connect it to another surge protector and not the wall outlet, random things like this can happen. Try plugging it straight into the wall and see if that helps.

The invites are completely random. Microsoft will invite people at random intervals. Getting an invite from another player wont get you in to the CTE.

Does the drop happen at the same time, like a regular interval? Or is it more random when it disconnects?

I'd recommend trying the steps on this page for troubleshooting that issue.
well, and even random, sometimes has intervals of little time but most of the time has not, but it certainly happens.
but I will try the step by step of this page, thanks, I'll come back later with the answer.
