    Xbox one trouble reading discs

since the 1403 xbox preview update i have had issues with the xbox reading discs, it can take numerous attempts for it to read a disc, sometimes it can be first time, last saturday it wouldnt play a bluray movie after a number of tries, so i then put it
in another bluray player and it worked first time. Alot of the time the drive stays silent and stays at insert disc on the home screen but sometimes makes a grinding noise. I was under the impression it was something to do with the preview update since it
only began to happen since the update but have bben asked to raise the issue here as it may be a hardware fault, I have been patiently waiting for a while now but no solution has been presented.

I first posted after calling support and coming to the conclusion myself that it related to the update, they advised i post on the preview update forums, which i then did. I posted in Preview wave > xbox one hardware and accessories > "check your disc" error
since new update, my first post is on pg 13 of that thread on 22/03/14 at 5:40pm and also another post on page 16 at 2:13pm on 23/03/14, and also pg 25 on 01/04 at 9:08pm.

I have since been waiting for a fix and posted in wave 1405 of the latest update under hardware and accessories > the post about still having issues with the bluray drive, this was when i was contacted by xboxstaff and directed to come here as it may be
    a hardware fault

    :)

Have you tried doing a full power cycle of the console?

    support.xbox.com/.../power-cycle-console

This has a tendency to stop occurrences of similar issues and can save you having to unnecessarily sending a console off for repair.

If that does not work, you should consider getting in touch with Phone Support. Especially if you are having troubles with the website for submitting a request for repair.

Xbox One has trouble reading discs

I purchased my Xbox One in early February spent a little over 700 dollars on the console and the accessories and games. About a week after having the console it began have trouble reading discs. I have to stand at the xbox putting in the disc multiple times
before it will read. After paying the amount of money I have for a console I'm pretty shocked that it's already having problems. I tried doing a repair order online but just game me an a error message. My nephew had a similar problem with his xbox one. He
had to send it for repair after having it for a day because it wouldn't read disc. With the amount of time put into building and testing this console I'm not sure why I'm having this problem.

I also have some lingering bluray drive issues from the preview builds (even after I opted out and recieved the May update). For me, if I use the instant-on feature, the drive won't wake up along with console, so I have to wake it up by pressing the eject
button, then I hear that drive sound we hear at the beginning. Xbox one trouble reading discs :(

What support told me is that these blu ray drive issues are ongoing and they still are trying to iron out these lingering issues. They said the fix should be in the soonest possible update, meaning June. Hopefully, this update fixes fixes both our issues
Xbox one trouble reading discs :(

Have you tried putting it on energy saving mode? That way you start with a cold boot every time? Or perhaps default to factory setting and reupdating?

    Good luck!
