  1. Xbox One Triggers and Bumpers- how do you play?

I've just realized that in my 6 years gaming on my 360, I've been using my index finger for the right bumper and my middle finger for the right trigger- the whole time.

What's funnier, I've been using my left index finger to alternate between the left bumper and trigger...

It's weird, when you get down to it- unless we consciously think about these things we'd never realize.

I think I'm gonna stick with my middle finger for Xbox One's right trigger, as it's what I'm used to.

I use the middle finger and the index finger for both. So I can quickly press the bumpers.

I have to hold the Xbox One controller differently than the 360 one.

But it still feels comfortable for me.

My accuracy is bad - it was always. So I wonder, wether it helps to change to option 2.

  3. I use option 2. I've done it that way on the 360 as well. Much easier for me to move my pointer finger to the bumpers when needed.

Xbox One Triggers and Bumpers- how do you play?

I have 5 fingers in each hand. My thumb is my 1st, and my little finger, pinky, 5th.

I use my thumbs for the toggle sticks, home button, chrome arrow button section, and YBA and X buttons, and home button. I use my 2nd fingers for the LB/LT/BT/RT. Sometimes when I use my 2nd and 3rd fingers for the LB/LT/RB/RT triggers, when I need to use
the tiny buttons aka which look like 2 box windows, the other with three straight lines, and I use my thumbs for those two small buttons on the controller. I have small hands not grown-up hairy hands ;D. So the controller feels great in my hands. I actually
love the Xbox 1's controller more than the wireless controller which came with my Xbox 360 slim console. But first time users be warned! The controller vibrates extremely powerful. Some others including Lei Fang have commented they don't like the way the controller
vibrates. One of my friends who's 12 says he got a shock by how strong it vibrates. I call the Xbox 1 controller design ingenious. But I think they went too far with the vibration motors inside. I give the Xbox 1 controller a solid 'A' though.

  5. Option 2. Just like driving a car I don't use both feet to accelerate and brake.

I use option 2 as much as I can, but sometimes you have to use option 1 if both the triggers and bumpers will need to be pressed simultaneously (driving in GTA V, for example).

The problem is that my bumpers are way too stiff to be used comfortably by my index fingers. It's just an awful design decision imo. And as much as I hate how stiff the bumpers are, I hate how loud and annoying sounding the clicks are even more.

Hopefully they redesign the controller at some point. Or maybe I can make Newblacksmurf's way work for me. I'll try it when I get back in town.

  7. Option 2 for me. I'm not a very big person and even at that, my hands are a bit smallish. Therefore, I still need to 'roll' my index a little in order to hit the bumper... but that's mostly because it feels odd to have my finger up high on the trigger. It
just feels more natural right in the middle.

I don't think I could use my middle fingers for triggers... just feels weird... and besides, I want to keep them rested so they can be used flippantly at the competition in MP, like they were intended to be used. XD

Option 2 by rolling my knuckle onto the outer edge of the bumper. Love the design of the X1 controller as I can leave my fingers on the triggers at all times and still press the bumpers.

Option 2. I'm tempted to buy a custom controller with buttons/paddles on the back. It would be really useful in Titanfall, for instance.

I use option 2 but what i think is crazy is people who do the claw.

The way they hold a pad is pretty much option 2 but they use there index finger to press a,b,x,y while there middle finger is for the right trigger and bumper.

There is a reason for this though and that is to give the ability to press the face buttons while being able to move the camera.

So lets say in the case of gears of war you can wall bounce around and keep your camera on the target or cod to be able to jump, crouch or dropshot while still having full control of the camera.

Basically its to reduce reaction time in online play as they don't have to move there right thumb back an forth between the face buttons and the stick.

If you want this slight advantage for online play ide recommend buying a Scuf control instead of holding your pad in a way that looks like a good shortcut to acquire arthritis.

Xbox One Triggers and Bumpers- how do you play?

I've alway used option 1. Had no problem with the 360 version.

It felt like it is the right way to hold. It's how the controller is designed for.

I struggle using option 1 with the One controller. I feel like it is a bit harder to aim with the newer controller.

For some games which don't require quick input I use option 2.
