Xbox one too loud, even in idle

Hello,

I just googled a bit because my xbox one is pretty loud. While most people report that it is pretty much silent, I can hear the fan clearly even when standing 2-3 metres away. And this in idle / home screen mode, when no game is running.

I believe the fan of my xbox is not running correctly. It has enough space around it and the air vents are not covered. Yet, it sounds like a disc was running (even though there is none) inside. This can't be normal!?

I ordered it from amazon 1 day ago, however, unpacked it completely already. I will probably contact Microsoft Support tomorrow and ask them to change it out.

Xbox one s fan constantly loud/fast even when idle.

As stated in the title, my Xbox one fan is constantly loud/fast I can hear it right now about 6 feet away while it's idle. The fan speed doesn't really increase too much while playing games, it's just always pretty loud. Is this normal or something I should
be worried about?

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We recommend making sure the console is plugged directly into a wall outlet. Also, power cycling the console by holding the
Xbox button on the console for about 10 seconds is able to assist with this issue. If the fan continues to malfunction, we recommend requesting a repair through the

Microsoft hardware website. The hardware team will need to investigate why the console's fan remains on. There are options available for devices that are out of warranty. The
Xbox Support Team is also able to assist with repairs. Be sure to let us know the results!

Hahaha, right when I posted this, it got quiet almost instantly

Seems like something was installed in the background. Will report if I notice something in the next few days.

Do you have a Microsoft store close by? If so you might try them to see if they will replace it under warranty if not you may have to send it back to Amazon. Would be interested in what Microsoft tells you. Keep us informed.

I hear the noise all the time - idle, playing games, etc. The sound does not vary.

It is on a flat, stable surface with plenty of space to breathe. I placed both consoles on the same surface and as I mentioned the first one was quiet for 2 weeks until it developed the loud buzzing. The second one buzzed from the first time I turned it
on, not as loud as the first one, but still loud enough to be heard throughout the room.

Thanks for the Insight. I do blow air inside the console to keep it clean and I may have spun the fan so that's a valid theory.

However there's no excess noise or noise outside of normal operation. The nose is produced from the fan that's always on.

If there's nothing wrong with the fan control that means there's something wrong with the CPU or whatever component it's attempting to cool.

It's been over a year so would warranty even be an option?
