"Potentially" a lot more consoles could be sold.

I remember reading something last year where it said in China no-one could release a "games console" but could release the same thing if it was classed as an "entertainment system" ..

This might of changed since though.

Thanks guys. I didn't know it was that restrict over there. To say they make and distribute a lot of technology you would of thought they would be just as open to the return concept :/

 

Consoles were banned in China at one point.

 

Cloud, I think they were banned as a part of the massive censorship over there combined with varying other reasons. As said though, any small percentage of sales in China is a huge profit. I did my research when this thread popped up and the population of
China is 1.35 billion, more than 1/7 of the entire world! Even a low adoption percentage is a lot of units but imagine if the Xbox One ever hit that level of saturation that the PS2 did where every man and his dog has got one...

 

China is a waste of time. This ban was because they thought that violent video games where bad for there kids.

So know they have "temporarily" lifted the ban but the facts are. Any console sold in China will have to be manufactured in China. The goverment will still ban any game they don't like which will probably be most of them and the fact it's the biggest bootleg
market in the world, they will just make a Xbox2 and sell it for 100$.

And how nice of Microsoft to sell them games cheeper then the rest of the world how about lowering are price 10$ like there going to do for them. This is a win for China and a loss for Microsoft.

 

And there is going to be Sony to deal with. I read all the post's about how China hates Japan so they will buy Xbox and that is just funny. China is not very friendly with America.

Yeah, who wants to be as rich, powerful and as technologically advanced as the United States of America?

These things might not buy "true happiness" but they certainly buy the ability to dispose of those who would try to remind you of that.

Dynamic it would be huge if they sold on that level. I am really shocked at the ban though, although it makes sense in its own right, it just sucks. Those poor guys are missing out on some good games. Censorship (or over censoring) is really bad never
been a fan of it. Let the citizens decide what should and shouldn't be appropriate. That's how I see it at least.

 

China letting their citizens decide? Sadly, that disappeared along with the anonymous man in Tiananman Square who defiantly stood in front of a row of military tanks back in 1989.
