Thanks for that post Mittens. I've been wondering what that buzz was all about. I'm not really up to speed on the latest hardware stuff so any other links on this would cool. Maybe start its own thread.

True, a good API can help squeeze more out of the hardware by being more efficient. What it will not do is improve the actual power of the hardware. And really, I expect improvements on both consoles, PC (windows and Linux), tablets, etc. As directx improves
so will other api that can be used.

I see this like I see the "develops will learn to optimize for the One" argument like that will close the gap. If they did not optimize for the others as well maybe. Same will happen with graphics api. Of course some act like other graphic api are so
inferior to directx (the direct3D part) which is not true really.

 

I have saw these discounts. I decided to trade mine in at GS and get another PS4 and wait for a price drop. Trade was $450 and considering I had no actual cash in it I was not really losing anything. I had played the One at a friends but my sons really
thought they wanted one. They lost interest pretty quick. Still might get one of these again once the price drops a little more.

 

First price drop is due to overstock. They've been doing 50.00 gift cards on top of the price cut for units without a free game.

Second Directx 12 will not save the X1 or improve the graphic ability by a great margin since the APU was developed during the DX11 era.

Third my issues still stand... Until I see some exclusive content for the X1 it's going to be a waste of money. All of the big developers are going multiplatform and there's simply no reason to play in 700-900p when I can game @ 1080 w/ better framerate.
It broke my heart when I found out Titanfall 2 won't be an xbox 1 exclusive next time around. All the big games Destiny, Dying Light, the naughty dog games, ESO, the next COD, the next battlefield - they will all be multi-platform or exclusive to the ps4 and
perform better on the ps4 as well. So that leaves us again wanting exclusives - I mean Gears of War/Halo are good IPs but they don't bring anything new to the table. Some good news is Diablo 3 is being developed for the x1, but it's not guaranteed for release
(such an odd thing for them to say in the interview).

If you really want to see some graphics go play the new Infamous it smokes anything out for the x1 right now - and I didn't even like the story that much. I mean think Ryse but Open World and with a bettter consistent frame-rate.

Sorry to be negative just wanted to report back in a few days after still trying to find info about exclusive xbox games that might catch my interest.

 

Also if you want the truth about the PS4 if it starts using AMD's mantle it will obliterate DirectX in performance. If you don't know what that API is do some reading - if the ps4 can get 20% more graphic performance by using mantle the x1 will be so far
behind the Cloud, God, Phil, Major, hell not the even these forums will save it.

The Xbox can't take advantage of it unless they drop Directx and even then it will still be behind. So really we can't ever hope to see the two consoles compete evenly with graphics, but we can at least hope for exclusives.

I really hope you guys get my gripe. Why play the same game with less frames and a lower resolution @ the same price // if I only owned one console or the other this wouldn't be a problem but I bought both thinking there would be enough exclusives for both
making up for the purchase.
