  1. Xbox One: "There was a problem with the update"

So i was trying August's update, which was 330 MB. It started downloading but at 20% there was a power outage. So i tried again later and it reached 100% then gave me this message: "There was a problem with the update". I tried again and again, and i got
this message at 80% once and three times at 100%. I'm sure my connection is fine.

Here's what i tried so far:

    - Powering off, unplugging for 2 minutes then restarting

    - Using wired and wireless connections

Btw my NAT is strict (i know how to make it open, just didn't have the time). When it was moderate and open, updates worked fine. So could this be the problem?

Please help me, i miss being online. Thanks.

    :)

Seriously...I bought this thing hours ago and it won't work until it can update on Live. Typical Microsoft. A $500 paperweight. I should have known better. Should have bought the PS4.

put your game saves on the cloud -> factory reset. That's my guess, and only a guess.

I would do a factory reset like suggested as above. That power outage might have really damaged your console.

Also, make sure your Xbox is plugged into a surge protector, that will help if you have another power outage.

What is a surge protector? Not sure if I can find one my area so can a UPS work? If yes which voltage should I get?

  8. I noticed an Xbox Live service called "Purchase and content usage" being down so could this be the problem?

  9. A surge protector can be bought in any electrical store and even many supermarkets such as Asda, Walmart etc. See the link for an example:

    discountstationerysupplies.co.uk/Extension-Lead-Power-Surge-Strip-with-Spike-Protection-4-Way-2-Metre-White.aspx

Also the problem will not be related to 'purchase and content usage'. If you lose power to your xbox whilst doing the update this could corrupt the update firmware and in some cases possibly even damage the hard drive. The diagnostic should help you find
    the root of the problem.

A surge protector would not have saved this situation. As the name implies its only a safeguard against frying components from current spikes.

To prevent the X1 from suddenly shutting off during a power outage he/she would need a UPS.

Was your Xbox One a Gen 1?

I have this same problem on both of my Gen 1 Xbox Ones. I even factory reset one of them and still ran into a problem. So I bought a flash drive and tried to do an offline update but still had the error. Now both of my Xbox's are basicly brinks now.

    Xbox One Problem With Update

I have the same issue. Update stops at 10% and quits. Tried the USB offline update, after 2beeps the screen says system error please contact tech support. Talked the several tech support they all feed me the same *** about how the service is down.

I dont think if its a network issue the update always stops at 10%. Had the xb1 for the last teo weeks woth no problem. This update broke the console for sure.
