Xbox One switching on sometimes when I boot laptop.

It's pretty weird. If a full shutdown does not resolve, try resetting the console.

Reset the console to factory defaults, you won't lose anything but you will need to log in with your account again. Email and password are required.

Follow this path and select reset keeping games and app.

In 5 to 10 minutes you will finish reconfiguring your console

To reset the console>

Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console

***Do not reset your console without having your account email and password.***

When you click the button to turn on your laptop does the console turn on together or does the console only turn on when you get to your laptop's login/home screen?

Go to the console power settings and select ''full shutdown'' and test if the console will power on with your laptop.

I generally use the laptop at a normal sofa to TV distance.

I will start using the full shutdown from now on and see what happens.

Being that it does not happen every time I was guessing that it might be some sort of account syncing / checking for updates every so often but then I would think a lot of people would be seeing it happen and would be a known issue.

I have read the stories about random switch ons caused by dirt / greasy fingerprints on the touch sensitive button on the front of the box being recognised as a press when the temperature / humidity changes but if that is the case there really is an astonishing coincidence that it is happening to me just after I switch on the laptop. And I never really use the console button, instead I use the controller to switch it on / off.

I think it could be some interference that is sending the signal to turn on the console and do the complete shutdown maybe avoid these interferences. Is your laptop too close to your console?

It usually happens when I login and the background stuff is starting up but being that it is a new laptop running Windows 11 pro with the Intel Evo spec it is quite fast to boot so a bit difficult to actually tell when it happens. Don't think it has ever happened before I login and I think it has happened at a random point when I have been logged in for a while.

I have tried to spot any common thing that causes the switch on and nothing obvious such as starting Edge where my account is logged in, the Xbox or Gamepass app or Chrome where I have a tab logged into my Microsoft account.

When I shutdown the XBox I always use the button on the controller and select the turn off console option
