Xbox One switches off When it's HDMI is selected on TV

Hi there,

I have developed a really weird issue on my Xbox one.

It started randomly turning itself off.

I have checked the fans for dust and have blasted them with clean air in case it was overheating. I have also tested with a replacement power supply, HDMI cable and controller.

I have narrowed it down to a HDMI issue.

The Xbox will run when there is no HDMI cable plugged into it, it will also stay switched on if the HDMI cable is plugged in and the TV is turned off, it will also stay on when the TV is turned on and the HDMI channel on the TV is selecting a different HDMI
channel to the one the Xbox is plugged into.

As soon as I change the channel to HDMI 1 (The Xbox channel) the Xbox shuts down.

Ive also tested it on another TV with the same result.

As stated before I've used a different power supply, Controller, HDMI cable and TV.

I suspect it needs to go in for repair but I thought I'd check here first in case I'm missing something.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

No Audio from Comcast Cable Box through HDMI.

When I connect my cable box (Comcast) to my XBox One, I get no sound through the HDMI cable. My XBox Audio is fine.

Display and Sound: TV Connection HDMI.

Devices TV (Visio Model Selected). Cable or Satellite Box (Comcast Selected).

Audio Receiver (Not Set)

Digial Audio

HDMI Audio Stereo Uncompressed

Optical Audio Off

Soundbar always changes input whenever Xbox One is turned on

Whenever I turn my Xbox One on, the input on the my Yamaha Soundbar switches to the TV input (which is an optical input), and has no relationship to the Xbox One. The Xbox One is connected to an HDMI input. When I turn it off, it is on the HDMI input for
the console. However, when I go back to turn it on, the input switches to TV, as opposed the HDMI input assigned to the Xbox One.

Is there a command I have to change in the settings so that the input is the correct one on my soundbar when the system is turned on?

After some quick research, I'm going ot assume you have a standard tv and not the Roku streaming player (the little box thing) so you would simply plug the Xbox One S into the HDMI input of the tv, select that input on the tv and turn the xbox one and
off you go ( depending on weather the tv will sit on an input source when there is no input you may have to switch to the HDMI input the Xbox is connected to when the Xbox turns on)

Check your TV and HDMI connections

Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

Select Settings.

Select All Settings.

Select Display & sound.

Select Video output.

Select TV connection.

If TV connection is set to "DVI", you'll need an optical audio cable for sound. If you're using an HDMI cable, switch your TV connection to "Auto-detect".

Note If your screen goes dark after you select HDMI or DVI and the screen doesn't reset after 30 seconds, see Troubleshooting a blank TV or monitor while your Xbox One is on.

Back out of Video output by pressing B .

Select Audio output.

Verify that HDMI audio is not set to “Off” (or dimmed).

Does your component cable have the switch on it that enables you to select tv/ HDTV?

If so flick the switch to tv, power your console on and let it boot to the dashboard, power off and switch back to the hdmi cable, see if that helps.
