Not everyone can get the same issue due to different equipment and stuff like that. Example as someone said to me there could be an issue with power due to extension cables and stuff like that, reducing how much power the console gets and therefore causes
a similar thing.

So different set ups can be the cause but if it is self powered (Powered from an outlet rather than console) It can take away quite a few troubleshooting problems not just for the external hard drives but also for the consoles power supply.

As you mentioned it has not happened to yourself, I haven't had it happen to me myself but everytime I have fixed these type of issues simply adding this self powered stops it completely from happening. So thought it would be better showing what type of
items can stop that from happening. Also doing this method doesn't strain the xbox power supply or the USB Not detecting drives due to lack or power (Normally caused if there is multiple USB being used for multiple things like controllers *Steering wheels*
then hard drive on top of that) <<< It is simple unplug job but some people want to use everything at once and that can help run 3 drives 3 controllers even if its 3 steering wheels or different type of input device.

 

If it is solving issues of HDDs not being seen, it gets a huge thumbs up. Most issues I have come across is people using power surge protection. This is a big no, as you say because it conflicts with the built in surge protection and can cause the Xbox to
shut down. I use an extension cable that has no surge protection and all is fine.

Your fix is logged away for future reference. Sorry if I came across as a bit blunt, it certainly wasn't meant to.

 

No worries At all this way gets around the Surge protection as well as help it gets detected faster I wish I could show a video showing this but 1. It isn't excatly presentable to show via video (Aka wire junction over here due to multiple things pc xbox
sound system hard drive ect.) but works and 2. It would be by Cell Phone/ Mobile phone which would be horrid quality but try it out and see for yourself ,

There is no worries about being blunt at all, It didn't see like that at all to myself. But there is of course diffrent os for the console due to insider program and diffrent set ups example extensions cable power gangs/Strips some with power surge protection.
Stuff like this cutting out a simple signal being picked up due to the power is being taken away from something else Or is being blocked.

Giving the device in the case A external hard drive it's power supply either from the self powered case (Plugged in to outlet and console) or a powered hub that has it's own power feed to help both power the hard drive and the signal of course. (Meaning
less strain on the console at that point) If a mixture of both Literally as this post suggest it would be a simple fix for the common errors that follows.

Game took to long to load:

Normally it would require a power cycle of the console, But with this set up and the game in question is in a self powered hard drive, all that would need to be done is switch off and back on the hard drive instead of the console. Less waiting time.

Hard drive not being detected:.

Normally there is a few things that can cause this, Power brick issue of the console, A Bad usb 3.0 cable. Trying to connect the hard drive on the wrong usb port (Port 2.0 instead of 3.0). Or of course it is a very power greedy hard drive and the console
ect is on power surge protection kit and is on instant on. It would be so many trouble shooting and of course power cycles to try and get the console to pick up the hard drive or to even power it.

But with this set up (Both a self powered external hard drive and self powered USB 3.0 HUB) it wouldn't be the console that would be getting switched off, It would be the hard drive remove the cable, replace cable switch back, No luck still? Ok try Switching
off the USB HUB 3.0 Replace connection cable switch back on. And it will be all faster to troubleshoot rather than previous ones.

 

What has that got to do with External hard drive set up?. I think you posted this on the wrong discussion but to fix the issue you having. There is 3 things to do first is the standard trouble shooter. Troubleshooting a Blank Screen TV or Monitor While Your Xbox One is on
.

2nd is of course double check the cables are in the Correct slots and try on a different TV. 3rd of course is send for repair if it shows it might be a damaged output from console.

 

Since the October update there’s a known issue they’re tracking when switching between games and streaming apps.

 

Correct, This method can stop it instead of power cycling the console, switching off external hard drive and switching it back on get around it. have done it as a trial and still use this method as well .

But Saying that there is sometimes problems due to the power settings itselfs. Example having instant on causing this issue (Has been shown to be more common if instant on causing that issue.)
