    Xbox One Surround Sound


    I have my Xbox One and 360 connected to a Sony home theater receiver via HDMI. When watching video apps on my 360 the surround is great but when I do the same thing on my Xbox One I only get sound from two speakers. Games play fine it is just the apps.
    I have tried everything I could think of. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    XB1 Surround Sound Issue

    The Xbox One doesn't currently output surround sound. However, Microsoft is working on it and will be updating the Xbox One to output in surround sound soon.

    Surround sound connection issues

    Hi everyone,

    I've tried everything, even been on live chat with M* for hours and can't resolve this.

    I'm trying to get the Xbox One to play sound through my blu ray surround sound. I have a Panasonic TX50-AX802b TV and a Panasonic BTT465 surround sound system. I've tried all the things I can find on the forum and still no joy.

    Tried 2 different set ups:

    1. HDMI from TV to Xbox One, HDMI from Xbox One to surround sound;
    2. HDMI from TV to Xbox One, optical cable from Xbox One to surround sound.
    No sound coming through the surround sound at all.

    Any help hugely appreciate, it's starting to drive me mad now Xbox One Surround Sound :)

    Xbox One Surround Sound

    Hello Pho3nix,

    I see the issue you are having would you mind telling me the settings you are using for your sound you can simply do this by doing this:

    Scroll left from Home to open the guide.

    Select Settings.

    Select All Settings.

    Select Display & Sound.

    Select Audio output.

    Once you are there please list your audio output options that you have chosen.

    If you watch TV from your Xbox there are other options or settings to view for that seperatly from the default audio options that might be your issue as well.

    Please get back to me once you have done this so we can further investigate the issue to try to solve your problem

    No Xbox One audio through Sony Surround receiver only get Sky Tv audio?But i can through the tv.

    You would actually want your hd box connected to your xbox one then your xbox one to your surround sound and then the surround sound to the tv. this way, your tv will display the picture but your surround sound will intercept the audio. the surround sound
    works as and audio/video in AND out device. Your sky tv wouldn't connect to the xbox at all as far as I know, that would have to be plugged in directly to the sony surround sound and you would change the input on the surround sound rather than the tv.

    The problem no one is realizing is the Xbox One doesn't support surround sound at the moment, and no one knows when they will. You're basically paying $170 or whatever the price is, for a $40 headset until the Xbox One gets surround sound.

    O think no the reason why their are no official surround sound headsets is because the spdif currently doesn't support surround sound, only stereo. Be a bit of a waste (and a possible legal nightmare) to release surround sound headsets, if the Xbox One
    can currently in not do stereo.

    Hi had this problem and fixed it, go to your surround sound settings on your surround sound system and change the surround sound settings to manual, the cutting out is the xbox one triggering different sound effects from your audio system, such as changing
    from cinema to home etc... hope this helps anyone else, reset console after you have made the changes to your surround sound.
