Xbox one surround sound headset?

i was going to buy a headset for destiny, I was looking at the official headset but its stereo. Does anyone know if there a surround sound headset coming soon?

XB1 Surround Sound Issue

The Xbox One doesn't currently output surround sound. However, Microsoft is working on it and will be updating the Xbox One to output in surround sound soon.

Surround sound connection issues

Hi everyone,

I've tried everything, even been on live chat with M* for hours and can't resolve this.

I'm trying to get the Xbox One to play sound through my blu ray surround sound. I have a Panasonic TX50-AX802b TV and a Panasonic BTT465 surround sound system. I've tried all the things I can find on the forum and still no joy.

Tried 2 different set ups:

HDMI from TV to Xbox One, HDMI from Xbox One to surround sound;

HDMI from TV to Xbox One, optical cable from Xbox One to surround sound.

No sound coming through the surround sound at all.

Any help hugely appreciate, it's starting to drive me mad now

Turtle Beach are releasing some very expensive ones at the end of October. They are also wireless but not sure they are worth £200!

I have a set of very expensive TBs for the 360 and reckon they were worth every penny, will be treating myself to a pair of these for the One, after all End of October is as good as Xmas! And totally wire free chat is almost worth £200 on it's own to me,
I hate being tethered to a headset.

Those stereo headsets are perfect, They only have one wire to the remote, They are loud and seem to work great compared to cheaper headsets.

Was thinking of getting the stereo headset to use when in party and use my X12's while watching tv and playing singleplayer, Ordinarily i wouldnt bother but ive been experiencing some sound issues while in chat, some compatability issues with it being a
360 headset primarily i think or the updates ruined it, its been that long but im sure it was fine to start with.

If you using turtle beeches and have problems take the cable out that goes from the headset to the adaptor and turn it round, its seems to solve every problem I have.

I bought TB XP400's when they were on sale and use the adapter, have to say so far I am impressed.

the turtle beach xo fours and sevens are surround ready but as others have said the chat adapter will only output stereo at the moment, got my xo fours for £70, can get them cheaper in other places.

I used to have a tritton ax pro + for my 360 and was a brilliant multi speaker headset. Does anyone know if there is an xbox one alternative? Now or in the future? I can only seem to find simulated surround sound when looking online

Based on a couple of information pieces (links below), I think the word "stereo" is mistakenly placed on the headset adapter. I don't have the exact facts and would also like to hear the official word from MS but think about this.. every surround sound
headset (except for ones with multiple speakers in the ear cups) use a stereo wiring. One wire for the Left speaker and one wire for the Right speaker. These wires come out from a surround sound processor (e.g. Astro Mixamp, TB DSS, etc) before they get
to speakers in the ear cups. The surround sound processor is what makes the headset a "surround sound" headset. These processors can do the same for ANY headset.

In the article linked from gamerawr, it states that MS is trying to negate the need for 3rd party audio processors by processing surround sound on the xbox one and feeding it to your headset via the headset adapter. Essentially taking place of a Mixamp,
DSS, what have you...

Also, Turtle Beach is labelling their XO series headsets specifically for Xbox One and uses "Cenematic Surround Sound" as a touted feature of these headsets... you know how they connect to the xbox one? Via the headset adapter (included).

I think it's perfectly feasible to have surround sound coming through the headset adapters. I just hope MS confirms that is the case.

O think no the reason why their are no official surround sound headsets is because the spdif currently doesn't support surround sound, only stereo. Be a bit of a waste (and a possible legal nightmare) to release surround sound headsets, if the Xbox One
can currently in not do stereo.

The problem no one is realizing is the Xbox One doesn't support surround sound at the moment, and no one knows when they will. You're basically paying $170 or whatever the price is, for a $40 headset until the Xbox One gets surround sound.

You still need to purchase a headset that has surround sound available on it. The Xbox is not able to make a stereo headset give surround sound. Hope this helps!

IRB, I'm really not trying to offend anyone here, but if my question was that simple then why would I use somewhere near 300 words to ask it? Therefore, there's more underlying my question than a textbook definition as things are never simple.

The word "stereo" applies to the majority of gaming headsets, but all of those headsets are capable of producing simulated surround sound due to the way they receive the translated signals from the Xbox. (Surround Sound Processors/ RF Transmitters. broken
record here.)

For Example,

Turtle Beach was convinced that their XO Seven headset would provide Surround Sound. Before they were forced to change it their website said of the XO Seven, “Be surrounded. Cinematic Surround Sound for your
games and entertainment.” The XO Seven is a Stereo Headset capable of producing simulated surround sound. But never once, even now, does Turtle Beach describe this headset with the word "stereo." This is because the word "stereo" can be misleading,
and would not sell. Yet, Microsoft uses the word "stereo" to describe the piece of hardware that the TB XO Seven is supposed to be paired with. The result is confusion because those two never reconcile.

There's not a lot of clarity with that is there?
