Xbox One Stuck on the Green "Xbox ONe" Screen. After playing some Halo 5.

So after playing some Halo 5 I turned off the console and when I turned it back on it got stuck on the green screen. It's been like that for over 6 hours. I already turned it off and unplugged the power cable for about 30 mins and it still stuck.

A little help please.

Same here .been stuck for 12+ hrs now had an Xbox one update around 2:30 Am Uk time. After it restarted, it won't get pass the green Xbox startup screen.everything was fine before the update. Was playing halo 5 at the time..

Mine did that too after the new xbox one experience preview update. HEEEEEELLLLLLLP!!!! Hard power cycle doesn’t work.

 

Same problem, now cannot boot up at all.

 

Woke my console up, black screen. Hard reset now stuck on this green screen with the dots on the bottom. So glad I just picked up halo to not be able to play....

 

having the same issue, preview program update froze, when i rebooted, now i'm stuck at the endlessly cycling dots green screen.

 

Hi, the following text is slightly modified from a post I made a while ago regarding the Xbox one black screen after the green screen.

Since then I have also assisted several people with this green screen issue and this has also worked for them.

This is the last resort and is in no way guaranteed to work for you but as yet has not failed to work so the odds are pretty good.

Those of you using the preview should really be posting in the preview support section of the forums.

I have seen this work for a few people with the same issue you are all having. Please be aware that all your data on the Xbox hard drive will be wiped as such you will need to download/install all your games etc. again.

If you have an external hard drive connected to your Xbox be sure to disconnect that before doing the restore.

The problem seems to be some data corruption on the Xbox which prevents the home screen from loading correctly, this can often be fixed by a factory restore. Now as you can't actually access the settings to do this there is a way to restore to factory defaults
using a USB flash drive.

If you visit the offline system diagnostic website
HERE and download the Restore Factory Defaults file

Read through the process of formatting the flash drive etc. thoroughly and follow the instructions as if you were doing a system update but using the file you downloaded you may find that your Xbox will then boot correctly.

Same here. Last played Halo 5, then went to bed (as I work overnights) and my wife stayed up watching TV (through the Xbox) with no issues. Went to turn it on at 3am and the screen went blank. Did a hard reboot by holding the power button, and the green
screen is continually loading (the three dots pulsating). I figured it was the update loading, so I left it on, and shut off the TV. It's now 4 hours later, and still there. I have 75mbps up and down, so I know it shouldn't take this long.

With the high number of users seemingly affected, I can't imagine Microsoft would expect us to have to go through all the nonsense to reset the console with a thumb drive, etc.. Hopefully some kind of widespread patch is in the works, and a press release

Read on another post that someone just kept doing hard resets and they got it to boot. I tried, and it booted to the new dashboard after about 6 or 7 tries. Hope it doesn't happen again. Good luck, guys!

 

I got the same problem after the xbox did update to the new dash in the preview progran i try the steps to restore the factory image but din't work and xbox costumer service din't help they tell me to send the console ($$$$) so i try again but this time
after let the xbox on for 2 hours and clear the cache and pres the side botton+ eject and then power and I keep the side and eject press the power botton start to flash and still in the green screen my account did sing in ( my kid tell me whe he was on the
other xbox ) so the os is there and I let it be and press the home botton and the new dash load up and the xbox was fine. NOTE: I DID NOT GET TO LOAD THE ORIGINAL FACTORY IMAGE THAT DINT WORK FOR SOME REASON. DO WHAT I DID AND THE XBOX WILL BE FINE IT LOOK
LIKE IS LOADIN A BIG UPDATE ON THE GREEN SCREEN LOOP. AND THE NEW DASH TAKES ABOUT 50 SECONDS TO LOAD FROM THE GREEN SCREEN. ALL WAYS.

I am having this problem it has become a very big thing that needs to be fixed fast, does anyone know why the steps for resetting will not work for me and i will always get stuck on the green screen no matter what i do. I am also a xbox preview member.

 

I turned mine on and off a few times and now it works

 

EggsBoxJuan's suggestion worked for me, I just wanted to confirm for anyone still trying to fix this problem. It got it fixed for me this morning and rather quickly, at that.

Follow those instructions to the letter and hopefully it'll work for y'all too. You can try the file that doesn't reset the console first, if you like, but it's a 20GB download and it didn't work for me. The factory settings file did, and it's only 20MB
and worked right away.

Just be careful not to leave any steps out. And when you extract the file from the ZIP, let it stay in the directory it creates. Your drive will read something like, "F:\systemrestore0\file.xyz"

 

Ok guys, after doing about 5-7 hard resets like some commenters here stated. My xbox is finally working properly. I am still downloading that file into my usb flash drive in case it happens again i can have it handy.

Every time you do a hard reset give it time to start up abou 5-10 minutes if it doesn't start turn it off, wait about a minute or two then start over. Good Luck!
