XBOX ONE STUCK ON GREEN SCREEN! HELP!

My xbox one has been stuck on the green loading screen for about 10 min now. This started happening about a week ago. I used to think it was frozen and would just turn off the console and turn it back on, and it would work fine. I heard this is how the
xbox updates now. Is this true? Have I damaged my console by turning it off and on again? Please help!?

I have however seen this work before in this situation

Remove any disc from the disc drive. Press and hold the xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, the console will power off, remove the power cable from the console, wait 30 seconds and then reconnect the power cable, power on your xbox one using the xbox
button on the console.
