Xbox One stuck on black screen after boot up

After lots of hours tinkering with settings and such I found the fix. This is something that should be posted and perhaps stickied. If this fixes anyone else's problem please reply to thread.

1. Turn off XBox 1 and Unplug from wall for about 10 to 15 mins.

2. Plug XBox 1 back in and turn it on. (Should boot into low resolution)

3. Go to settings

4. Select Display and Sound.

5. Select TV Connection

6. Select proper TV resolution (refer to your tvs owner manual. If you dont have one please refer to google.)

7. Go back to settings

8. Select Power and Startup.

9. Under Power Mode select Power Saving.

If this works please let me know.

 

Hi, I have the exact problem that CyberneticMaple does/did I that the screen goes black after the initial green logo screen. I have had the console since may and have had no problems since then it started today, shall I return to my retailer or is there
a fix?

 

Had identical symptoms. Just had chat with MS tech support. Verdict for me was hardware failure - couldn't even do factory reset. So they say I should phone a number to arrange for a repair. 14 months old - so out of warranty! I'm off to argue with MS and
failing that to try my retailer. Amazon tend to be quite good with this sort of thing.

 

none of the above tips have helped me either. screen stays black after startup...

 

Having the same issue. Have had for 13-14 months, maybe played a total of 10-20 hours. Bought a new game in holes that would get me to play more, and it now won't start up. Console makes a noise when you press power, but nothing comes up on the screen. Light
on the front of console and camera come on.

 

Update: Pleasantly surprised by MS... phoned up to find out about repair... was informed that warranties on Day One Xboxes had been extended. So they are posting out a new one and when it arrives, will send back the broken one. I guess they consider it a
write-off.

Note to tomm1adams... your symptoms may not be quite the same as those of the thread-starter and most others on this thread... my Xbox certainly didn't make a noise and the screen went green before it went black. If your's didn't go green first, you might
be better trying to find another thread with symptoms closer to yours, if you want to get to the bottom of this - since it sounds like a whole different issue.

 

has anyone got a fix for this problem yet it has just happened to me i had just purchased battlefield 4 premium online and was in the middle of downloading it when xbox froze so i turned it off and on again and all i get is a long time on green xbox screen
then just black screen dont if this matters but before i started downloading battlefield i put my settings on instant on mode any help please

 

I am Having the same issues... I get the XBOX ONE logo and the a black screen.

Sometimes the Logo just stays on the screen.

 

Xxx Rossez xxX, I've been following up your post by contacting support and they say no such thing exists. I have the same issue so I'm trying to get it resolved as well. Were there special circumstances regarding your xbox purchase? did you have the extended
3 year warranty purchased for your xbox one? Just trying to figure out if there was something different regarding your account that allowed that to happen!

 

I powered up last night to check on a game, but after the green loading screen it went black. I have restarted the Xboxone over 10 times now with no results (and yes I held it for 10 seconds). While the screen is black it teases me by saying "Welcome Maeldun
Cu Roi".... Welcome to what? disappointment and sorrow?

I did notice a few weeks prior that the desktop was not responding to my controller but fixed its self. I also will note that I updated my Xbox with a system update a week ago.

I am currently doing the reset by leaving it off for 15 minutes.

 

It got it to work. I recommend leaving it off for a few hours and unplugging everything from the xbox. Also make sure it can not connect to the internet (turn off wifi).

It seemed to work after that.
