Xbox One Strict NAT...

Hello,

Looking for some help with this issue. It prevent my friends and I from playing matchmaking in various games.

Here's what I've done that should have opened up the NAT. Port forwarded all ports from Xbox One support threads and portforward.com. I have my xbox one in the DMZ and a it has a statically assigned address matching that of the DMZ address. What am I
doing wrong? Why do I still have a strict NAT?

If it's still strict after you open the proper ports, try resetting your modem and router, then hard reset your console.

This site will help you open the right ports
Open Port

Just select your router and follow the instructions. Do not download anything from the site, it's not necessary. It's a safe site, but port forwarding manually is very easy.

What router are you using?

 

Dlink DGL4500 with DSL "dumb" modem

 

Any ideas? I'm really at a loss here as to what could be causing the strict NAT.

If your console is in a DMZ, all ports are opened and you don't have to use port forwarding settings, so did you try with DMZ only?

 

Giving that try, removed the rules for port forward and left Xbox in the DMZ.

 

tried just dmz still same issue, tried just port forward, same issue. Tried some more tricks with no luck...I'm at a loss. Can't figure out why still STRICT nat...

 

Have you checked with your ISP whether you are on a CG-NAT?

CG-NAT or carrier grade NAT is when your ISP doesn't have enough IP addresses for all their customers. They force you to share your IP address with other customers.

A side effect of this is a permantly strict NAT in gaming.

My ISP does it for some customers although they let you opt out of it if you are a gamer.

 

Good to know, thanks for the info. I have the newer DGL5500 coming, will try that out first and if still strict will be giving them a call as I think I've done everything possible on my side.

If you have a setup with a router AND a modem/gateway you need to port forward on the modem/gateway aswell in order to allow the traffic to go through. So

Or did you mean that you can't change settings on the modem by calling it "dumb" ?

 

Hallo Microsoft mein NAT Typ ist auf mittel aber ich habe alle Ports freigegeben trotzdem geht er nicht auf offen. Ich habe meine Internetanbieter schon gefragt und der meint es ist alles in Ordnung. Was soll ich tuhen?

Got the new router and still same issue, you must be right it has to be the ISP at this point. Thanks for all the helpful replies.
