  1. Xbox One Stretched smaller screen display

Turned on my Xbox one to the screen being only on the top half of the screen and stretched. I have went into to display settings and checked the resolution. I've went into my TVs settings and tried various things there. I've done both hard and soft resets. I've switched HDMI ports. I've unplugged hdmi from both tv and Xbox, then reset Xbox. I've unplugged everything from Xbox and let it sit for several minutes then plugged it all back in and turned it on. I'm at a loss for what else I can do.

    :)

Try it on a different TV. That looks like it could be a scaling chip failure in the display

    Hi Chelsey,

This sounds frustrating and I understand you have tried a lot of troubleshooting steps already, including resetting the console, so I’ll do my best to help!

Has there been any possible software updates to your Xbox One and TV recently? Any recent changes to your setup?

Are you using a HDMI adapter or splitter on your connection from your TV to Xbox One?

Does this issue occur on other resolution settings, such as 1080p or 720p?

Set the Display Override setting to “Auto-detect”, which is recommended, unless one of the manual override options work better on your TV. To do this go to Settings > General > TV & display options > Video fidelity & overscan.

Reset your TV settings on your Xbox One. To do this go to Settings > General > TV & display options > TV & OneGuide > Troubleshooting > Reset TV settings. Although a complete reset should’ve adjusted this and resolved the display issue.

Verify your TV is set to the correct ratio, usually 16:9

You may want to try your Xbox console on another TV or monitor, if possible. This would help identify weather the TV or Xbox console is causing this issue.

Also here is another thread with a similar display issue on Xbox One, which may help.

    Hopefully this helps!

Xbox series S and an ultrawide monitor issue

    Hi,

As no Xbox consoles support ultra-wide 16:10 aspect ratio displays, the image will have to be stretched to fit the screen. There is no work around for this.

Make the display screen of my Xbox One smaller?

If your TV is 1080p it may allow you to run a lower resolution (720p) and display it 1:1 (normal) so it would be centered and only use 1280x720 of the 1920x1080 pixels.

Unfortunately the ability to do this depends entirely on the model of TV that you own. The aspect setting (sometimes called a "Wide" setting) you are looking for is called Just Scan, 1:1, Full Pixel, Screen Fit, or something entirely different depending
    on the TV.
