  1. Xbox One Streaming to Win 10 - No audio unless TV turned on

I'm using the streaming feature to game in my office while I work. (I work nights, and there's a whole lot of slack time.)

I've got a problem though. If the TV in my living room, where the Xbox One is connected, is turned off, I get no audio. A quick glance at the Xbox One settings shows that this is because both audio options, HDMI and optical, are turned off. (Xbox is using
an HDMI connection direct to my TV.)

This presents somewhat of a pain in the neck. I'd rather not have to turn the TV on in the living room if I don't have to. Are there any serviceable workarounds here, or do I just have to deal with it? It seems like it would be relatively trivial to add a
setting to the console to output audio to the network that is only available while streaming.

    :)

Xbox App on Windows 10 loses streaming sound when TV connected to Xbox One turns off

Xbox App on Windows 10 loses streaming sound when TV connected to Xbox One turns off. Sound is restored when I turn the TV on. I was hoping to play my Xbox One game in another room from the TV. Everyone is sleeping in the house and this way I can hide
with my laptop while still playing Halo.

I rebooted the Xbox One and started re-started streaming and still no sound. I can confirm that when I have the TV on the sound on the Xbox App on my Windows 10 PC is restored. Therefore I am concluding that in order to hear sound on the Xbox App, I have
to turn on whatever my Xbox One is connected to that provides audio. In my case, that is a TV. This could have been an audio receiver.

Is there a way around this or a fix for this? Am I the only one experiencing this?

Game streaming resolution when TV is off or on different input

Here's some additional details for Microsoft. I am using two xbox ones and a windows 10 pc:

    - an original model xbox one connected to a 1080p tv and a wireless AC network connection

    - an xbox one S connected to a 4K tv and wired networking

    - windows 10 pc with a 1080p monitor and wired networking

Game streaming works perfectly to the original model xbox one with a wireless connection. From my windows 10 PC I can turn on the console, start streaming, and the resolution is great.

With the xbox one S though, even though I have a wired network connection to both the PC and that xbox, I will only be able to stream in 640x480 resolution unless I turn on the TV before I try to stream. I can also report that if I do turn on the TV first
and begin streaming in 1080p, I can then turn off the TV without affecting my 1080p streaming until I turn the xbox off.

This appears to be a bug for our particular configuration, and it's not getting any attention from Microsoft because their streaming test cases are passing. It could be a difference of original model xbox vs. xbox one S, but I'm expecting it has something
to do with the 4K display settings on the xbox, HDCP, and/or trying to stream to a lower resolution of 1080p.

Windows PCs can't find Xbox One on the network

SOLVED: I had to turn on Media streaming in "Media streaming options", a buried control panel screen that the only way I know how to find is by going to the start screen (win 8) or start menu (win 7) and typing "media sh". I also installed the Xbox Video
app on the Xbox. Without it installed, video files were playing audio-only in the Xbox Music app.

Xbox One home theater question! PLS HELP!!

I'm not really sure if it'll work or not, and if it'll work, I don't know if you'll get a surround sound. Let me explain. Your Xbox One will send the 5.1 audio stream to your TV via the HDMI cable. Then your TV should send the audio stream to your receiver.
Even if the optical cable support multichannel audio stream, I don't know if your TV can send the input 5.1 stream to your receiver or if it'll downgrade it to stereo.

Unfortunately, I think you'll have to try to get a definitive answer.
