Xbox One Strange Download Speeds

The last few days I've been getting strange download speeds on my Xbox One. Some of the games in my library, such as Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Assassin's Creed IV, Alien: Isolation (to name a few), all download at my normal speed that I usually get (around
90 mbps). However, the majority of my library is only downloading at under 5 mbps. It's a very strange thing.

I've been testing it the last couple of days, and the slow download speeds seem to be isolated to certain games (for me, it's the majority of my library). So if I try to download Gears Ultimate Edition, Forza Horizon 3 or GTA V for example, I get under 5
mbps. Then I go and stop that, and try downloading Dishonored, it downloads at 90 + mbps.

I've tried every troubleshooting step you can think of, including putting my XB1 in a DMZ on my router. No change. And all my other devices (including my PC with Steam), all download perfectly. So it's not my ISP or my equipment. Plus this has only started
happening the last few days.

I'm assuming it's a server issue or something, because that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

Anyone got any ideas?

Xbox one max download speed caps at 50Mbps

I just got my Xbox One and I found a similar issue. I have an Apple Time Capsule (3rd Generation). I have the Xbox One wired through a CAT 5E cable to the router, and set up a static IP in the DHCP. For some reason it will not go above 50Mbit download speed.
My PS4 downloads faster than this...

All my other devices zip through downloads (I get 200/20 from TWC) but the Xbox One is struggling. Very strange, and I still haven't figured out the reason.

This is one feature that all consoles need in my opinion. It has nothing to do with data caps but speed available. Just last week I was watching Netflix when it starts to buffer. Strange as I have a 16mbps download, nothing amazing but better than most in my area and perfectly capable of 1080p streaming.

Turns out that both my PS4 And XOne were downloading updates at the same time, which was bogging down my internet.

If the consoles gave me the same scheduling as Steam, which also allows you to limit your download speed, this could have been avoided.

 

It's not just you. I'm having the same trouble with trying to get bf1 to update with the new dlc. When I first tried it dropped to 5 mb/s and stayed there which is stupidly slow. I ran a detailed network test and I got ~90 mb/s with the latest build. With
a cancel of the update, which borked the whole install so I had to DL it all again, and hard reset it is now updating at 30 mb/s to 50 mb/s. Better but nowhere near what I used to get.

They have definitely done something that has messed up the networking or the servers in the latest build. I have a 100 mb/s down and 2.5 mb/s up line speed that I just re-verified on speedtest.

I am not looking forward to installing and updating Destiny 2 tomorrow.

 

So I managed to fix my problem.

It turned out that the ports I had manually opened on my QoS were causing problems with the UPnP somehow. I cleared the ports and my DL speeds shot up again and stayed consistant. If you are still having problems it may be worth looking into if you can check
your router settings.

I haven't changed any of my router settings, so I don't think that could be it. Mine has always just had UPnP enabled, and that's it. Plus I don't think my router even supports QoS.

I've seen a few more people complain about this, so I don't seem to be the only one.
