  1. Xbox One Storage Issue

After a factory restore to change my MS email on my Xbox One after an account email change, my newly restored vanilla Xbox has 364 GB of free space. I can understand up to 50gbs being OS and system partitioned and whatnot, but where the hell is the rest
of my space? Not a diss to MS or anything because to quite the contrary, I live in their ecosystem, but it is frustrating to be missing <100gbs of space when games, their updates, and dlc can easily take up 50gbs.

    :)

    Xbox One - Storage issue?

Have you tried power cycling the console yet?

1: Push and hold power button on console until console turns off

2: Unplug the power cord from the console for 30 seconds

3: Plug back in and power it back on with the console power button

Let us know if that fixes it

  3. Xbox One - Storage issue?

Hello, there may be other issues, but my console is not recognizing any saved content.

example, I go to manage game and the saved data does not show up on the right as it should. I just get a white circle spinning to suggest it is loading, then it goes blank. This is on All games.

Yeah, it does seem like the operating systems take up a lot of room. There's probably also a chunk of space received as a cache. You lose about 35GB due to formatting, but that still means that the OS/cache take up about 100GB which is a lot!

  5. Wow, that's kinda ridiculous. Is there any way to clear some of the cache?

The system, brand new on release day, took up about 111 gigs on the hard drive. This is the allocated space for the OS, massive files of firmware and drivers that have to incorporate the myriad devices they either have for it or have planned for it, and
then of course the cache space which if I heard right is roughly 30 gigs.

Now with all the system updates and what not, that number has grown.

The good news is, part of the firmware and driver files already installed does include the needed software to support incorporating an external HDD. And not just an MS branded one, but any external HDD. It's what that USB 3.0 slot on the left side is made
for. According to a release they had a little while back, it should be available by this summer.

Hey joy211191! At this time there is not a way to change the HDD in the console without voiding the warranty. Thanks!
