Except when the hunk of junk Kinect doesn't work. Mine is set up right and works as a mic, but the voice commands have never worked....not even once. I have a normal East Coast American accent.

The thing is garbage.

I don't care about how Kinect does this or that! I use it when it works. Issue is it's to work great both ways! FACT!!! So get over yourselves... Lol

I have most of the games and apps I use regularly pinned but rarely even do I glimpse the pins page or home page as I just voice command to the things I want. But late at night I still don't find it hard or cumbersome to find the things I want with the controller
it just obviously takes longer than the voice. The 360 UI is not simple or is it easier to find anything. I find the X1 UI more streamlined and simple to use. Pressing the nexus button is pretty much the same as the old guide box anyway, it takes you to home
where all those things are if you pin correctly

I agree with the OP. Xbox 1 IS missing fun "Xbox" features from Xbox 360. Although Xbox 1 is not Xbox 360.2, it's still Xbox. (1) voice messaging. Cant even do it between other Xbox 1 consoles. An Xbox friend gave me her Skype contact and when I went to
open it on the Skype App, "This version of Skype does not support that yet". (2) A UI more similar to 360's UI. Xbox 1's UI is surprisingly laggy for a console with better processing power especially with the controller the voice commands peps say is faster,
with the controller you have to wait for the pages/tiles/apps to load. Xbox 360's UI isn't this laggy. Also give us the ability to change the Dash background. Black is boring and not fun. The console has to appeal to kids and young peps, not just older peps.
360 you can add a picture or theme to the background. I know Xbox 1 has a kind of Windows 8 OS, but with Windows 8.1, you CAN change the desktop and start screen background. (3) USB support for pictures/videos and external HDD support though M is working on
this. (4) A Party system which works very similar to Xbox Live Party on 360. That means the ability to put the party on Invite Only or Open, be able to kick peps from the party, have at least 8 peps in the party who all can be playing different games and apps
and still be in the party. This is the magic behind Xbox Live Party on 360 and it still shows it in a spiffy way on the 360 dash. (5) name/location/bio/motto fields on your profile for Xbox 1. It adds definition. I've spoken to several peps and friends on
Xbox Live on my 360, and they agree Xbox 1 is "missing" features which they like.

I'm ok with everything else. Xbox 1 has added a recent players list, battery indicator, dolby digital support through updates. I like how it doesn't abruptly disconnect you from Xbox Live every time there's an update like with 360, and 1 gives you more detailed
Network stats like ping up and down speeds something which 360's UI doesn't offer. And the Xbox 1's controller is nice and light and fits my hands well.

Give it time, i'm sure they're working on plenty of updates for the system in due course. The only feature i'm after at the moment is "xbox take screenshot" or the ability to take said screenshot in Upload.

Other than this i'm happy with Kinect so far. It recognises my mug to sign in, even when I can't be bothered to shave, it recognises my voice commands in game perfectly fine and on the dashboard.

Overall i'm still happy with my purchase, especially after watching the *** storm of the opening few months of each system release, and i'm desperately excited about E3 this year. NOT LONG TO GO!

I actually tried hard to use Kinect when i got the X1, I gave it about 3-4 weeks until I got that fed up that I finally turned it off. I can see why some people like it, but to me it just turned out to be nothing more
than a gimmick. I have seen people say "pin it to the home screen" so many times, my pins just look a jumbled mess after pinning a ton of things there. Hopefully ms will eventually find a happy medium and make it perfect for both kinect and controller use's.

I was almost in the same boat as you... but it has improved somewhat with the recent updates. Still, I don't use it as much as probably most people here who like it, but in cases
where it would take multiple button commands and navigating through more than one 'screen' to get to what you're after, I find it much easier than the alternative. I'd say it might be worth turning it back on and giving it another try after a few more updates.

The UI is designed for Kinect. If you bought Xbox One with the intent to not use Kinect, that's your problem. I'm sorry if that sounds cold, but that is the truth. Kinect haters can shout, whinge, demand, rage, petition, boycott, and curse all they want,
but the devs want you to use the Kinect, hence why it's in the box. That is the reality.
