    Xbox One Stereo headset not working.


    My boyfriend's Xbox One headset has stopped working. After trouble shooting with a tech through the Xbox chat support, it still ins't working. It started Wednesday night while we were playing Destiny. It started making a weird noise like someone was tapping
    on the mic and then it stopped working. He can hear me when I talk but I can't hear him and the mic isn't picking up anything. The tech from the chat said it might be broken but it has not been dropped, the wire was not pulled out and there is no damage that
    we can tell.

    After doing a little research online, I have notice that a lot of people are complaining about a similar issue with the headset just dying. And it has all seemed to happened this week. Did MS do something to the headset that caused some to break? Because
    there has been a noticeable difference in the way the headset and controller work since the last update and it is not a good difference.

    What's a good yet not horribly expensive headset for the Xbox?

    The default stereo headset is pretty good IMO.

    Comfortable, cheap, decently built. It's stereo but it should work with windows sonic as well which helps with audio quality.

    The mic that came with the Xbox one works. My adapter chat button makes the game volume higher. Is it suppose to be like that?

    We have two of the
    Xbox Stereo Headset     with Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter, and both sets have worked well with no problems for sometime now. And I have used the
    adapter with non-Microsoft headset with no issues. So, given that you say your "3.5 mm cabled headset " works directly connected to the controller, then I regret to say it would seem that the fault lies with the adapter itself and may need to be replace.

    I would recommend the official Xbox brand stereo headset as it claims to be compatible with all xbox one wireless controllers:

    It probably doesn't need the stereo headset adapter - but if you're going to buy this headset, better just buy the stereo headset adapter to get your other headsets, that you already own, to work properly
