Xbox One Stereo Headset Mic Stopped Working After Newest Update

I am having the exact same issue, and I have tested the mic with my laptop and my iPhone and the microphone works just fine with them, so it seems the mic isn't broken it just won't work on the Xbox.

Xbox stereo headset mic suddenly stopped working mid conversation

So I bought a new adapter and the official xbox stereo headset still wouldn't work but the astro a40's did for a few days, then tonight same exact thing. Mid conversation the mic stopped working. Where's my support, xbox?

Recently my Microsoft Xbox One Stereo Gaming Headset just broke my mic stopped working and I just found out that my right soundbox doesn't work anymore either does anyone know if I can get money back?

 

Im having the same issue on my xbox. Apart of the preview program and these early updates my mic was working fine beofre and now it does everything it did before but it wont pick up im talking. The xbox icon shows i have a moc plugged and its not mutted
people cant hear me xbox support said come here because it MIGHT be an issue with the preview program updates

Sorry to hear about the headset trouble. To check, do you possibly have a different controller or adapter you can test the headset with? We just want to narrow this down to see if there might be some interference with a different accessory. Let us know

 

I believe I have narrowed it down... I used a newly bought headset on my phone, and it worked, mic and all. So I tried my Xbox Stereo Headset on my phone, and the mic was working. So, nothing's wrong with the headset. I started messing with the adapter,
and found that if I moved it around certain ways, my friend would hear some crackling on the other end. So, I think the adapter just stopped working suddenly after the update. I still believe it's the update, because I don't pull it out of my controller, so
it would never have the chance of having anything bent on the inside like some people have issues with. I have bought another adapter to see if that's the problem! I'll let you guys know! In the mean time, if I were you guys, I would also mess around with
the adapter to see if that's your problem.

 

this sucks none of my headsets work now i even went so far as to buy a brand new headset today and nothing everything was fine 2 days ago now nothing its gotta be that latest update i hope xbox updates it soon

 

It wasn't my adapter, either. I'm sorry guys, this just sucks. I've tried headsets, adapters, and I bought a new controller today. None of it worked. I talked with support again, and they still can't figure out what's wrong. The last thing they told me
to do was to call my internet provider and give them some ports to open. So, I'd just call support and tell them what's going on, so they can see if it's your hardware, or on their end, because they haven't heard of this happening with the new update yet.
So let them know!

 

I have the same problem glad to know it's not just me. Anyone find a fix??

Joining in on this as I'm not sure if I'm in the same boat. About a week ago my cheap default headset stopped working. I can talk, and others can hear me, but I can't hear them. I can see they are trying to talk though. If I switch over to skype, it works
fine, but not in party chat.

So I broke down a bought a stereo headset. That has the exact opposite issue in that I can hear everyone fine, but when others hear me, they hear static and then it cuts in and out randomly.

Now if I use kinect to chat, everything works correctly.

Talked to support and it was a waste of time. In between the multiple "bros" and "dude" the only thing he could tell me was to go buy another headset or xbox because mine was out of warranty. Not exactly worth waiting online to be told they know nothing.

I have done hard resets, a factory reset, made sure the controllers were updated, ran wireless and plugged into every USB, used both AA batteries and the rechargeable and tried 2 different controllers. Tonight I'm even going to try a friends headsets that
I know work and try my headsets on another Xbox One that I know works. Members in my party are people I play with all the time, and they are not muted, nor do they have me muted.

My ISP is AT&T Gigabit and I'm on the preview program.

 

That's really interesting, actually... The customer support person that I talked to said that he hadn't heard about this happening with the new update, but if you went and bought a new stereo headset, and suddenly can't talk? That's a little strange. I'd
say to keep calling until they do something about it, because I haven't had any change, and I've tried multiple headsets, a new adapter, a new controller, I've done factory resets, changed privacy and audio settings, hard resets, I've called my ISP and had
them open up ports that are apparently closed suddenly, and then I was told to email the support person back (he had emailed me the ISP ports) and I haven't heard a reply yet. So I'm going to have to call a third time to explain to a different person everything
I've done, and if they have anything new to add to the millions of things I've done just so I can be heard while I'm trying to play online with friends.

Until then, I'm going to cancel my Live since no one can hear me. I'd suggest you do the same, and save some money.

I've exactly the same problem. The support on Twitter told me that I've to buy a new headset, so I did that today and what's the result? I spent 59,- for nothing because it still does not work! I have two different controller and two different headsets,
I can hear everything and everybody, but nobody can hear me. It's quite frustrating when you have your focus on online gaming. Tactical games are impossible to play without a working microphone.

So many people have this problem since a lot of days, but it seems like no one is really interested to fix that. I once was happy with my Xbox....
